Obviously, a lot of the older gamers will say Pong, but it’s fun to put things into perspective and see which games were “firsts” for gamers across the board.
-
I first played a game called "monsters" on the BBC Micro about 20 years ago. Still got it somewhere.
-
yup... pong.
-
pong
-
I playied my first videogame on my Atari which had a lot.I dont remember which of all though.I think it was that tennis game.
Perhaps I playied before than that but cant remember(I was too young to remember)
-
I used to have a commodore 16 (yes, that\'s right, a commodore 16) what a friend gave me, and on one of the cassettes that he let me have, was a game called "Punchy". It was without a doubt THE most pathetic game ever created. All you had to do was make your way from the left of the screen to the right, whilst jumping over obstacles. Once you made it to the right of the screen, you went onto the next level. What I remember most about it was that it took about 25 minutes to load from a the tape.
Ahhhhh, those were the days, when you were boasting about what "computer" you had, you never used terms like mghz, RAM, Gigabytes, processor power and so on and so on....... All you had to say is "What K is it?" and it would be something crappy (like 16 K in my case). Then I cot a C64....... WOW!!!! A whole 64 K.
-
PAC MAN on NES.
-
I think mine was chuckie egg on an archemedies
-
Pong.
First arcade game I ever played was Donkey Kong.
-
I was too young to remember, but it was something on an old Atari. Perhaps F-1 Pole Position or maybe even Pac-Man.
I just hope it wasn\'t E.T., because we had that, too. What a terrible way to get started that would have been.

Space Invaders on arcade machine.
Cerberus: We went from vic20 to C64,how come the C16 never went mainstream?

I think it\'s primary function was as a demonstration model.
-
I know it was on the Intellivsion, but I don\'t remember what game it was.
Later in my gaming history I remember pong, then super breakout, f1 pole posistion, and some space shuttle game, all on the Atari 2600.
-
Atari 2600 I think it was called Crossbow. I loved that game.
-
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)
-
I played Pong over Friends house and I have been hooked ever since.
Ace
-
Super Mario Bros. for the NES was the first I can remember. I got an NES for my fifth birthday. I\'m not sure if I played anything before that, but it\'s possible.
-
frogger
-
i dont really remember which one i played first. I think it was the first mario for nintendo. Was born in 87 and i have 2 older brothers who bought a nintendo so iv never played an atari.
-
Wouldn\'t that be funny if a 5 year old kid just played one of the ps2 game as his/her first?
:D
-
(home) Pong
(arcade) Space Invaders
Fav old School "Defender" button version not the joystick version
-
Mine had been Space Invaders (Arcade) in the decade before Vice City was set  :sconf: . Was a sight to behold one lone machine standing there in a large shopping center, with 50+ people standing around it trying to see what was happening in the game.
-
Manic Miner, the good old days of gameplay and not visuals (but these days, if you can combine the two it is great!)
-
I was too young to know, but it was something on Atari (2600).
-
My first video game was Space Invaders in the arcade. Then my dad bought a pong machine, so that was the first thing I ever played at home.
:alien:
-
pacman
-
I\'m not totally sure, it\'s one of these (cmon... how can I remember when I was like 5?!?!)
1) Nibbles for computer
2) Atari 2600 breakout
3) L.O.R.D on BBS
4) Mini racing game (handheld) I had....
-

Or maybe it was a old pong like looking tennis game. The "console" have several games in one (tennis, hockey and football I think) :)

Man, you just brought back some seroius memories. I used to do that too. For me, the best part was playing my fav. (Defender) and having people around seeing how far I got. It was the conquest. I\'ve been a gamer ever since. I still love that game! What game do you think made you really appreciate games?
-
For me I think Phoenix was the game followed by the Galaxians, Galagas etc. that really got me into gaming. Well that was when I could get money from my parents, to play back then ;) . Never was a fan of Defender and Astriods though maybe it was to complicated for me, being as young as I was at the time.
Yeah I have to agree, it was always alot better when you had a crowd around :D . That and just watching others to see what they were doing, learning tricks etc.. Ah the memories, to bad thats all but gone.
-
Pong at home on the nice looking wood grain console with the swivel controller knobs.
Sev- I see you visit the HTF too. :)
-
Dont remember. But first console game was Super Mario bros on Nintendo

Maybe the crowds but you can still play your old favorites online. I do that sometimes. Not sure where you\'d find Galaga or Galaxians but I know a few other spots if you want to check them out.

I used to have one of them as well. I never thought to class it as a console, but I guess it was the games console of it\'s day. Mine also had a naff immitation wood grain finish.

I didn\'t even know what videogames were when I first played them. I was about 3 or 4 or something, and my cousin had an Atari with over 50 games. She was playing on the TV and I came over all excited and stuff. I played pong, and some weird space game shooting aliens and things like that.
My first game system was the 8-bit Nintendo...and I played the gold-cartridge Zelda, Metroid, Metal Gear Solid (Snake), Duck Hunt (with that cool gun), Spy Hunter, Mario...and all those others...*sniff* Good times, good times...:) Wish I could go back to being a kid just for a moment, where we had no worries, except for monsters in our closets and under our beds...those bastards.
-
if anyone remembers the old Bally video game system from waaaaaaaaay back........there was a wild gunman type game for it it was sweeet! on the NES it was zelda. my grandpa had the old Bally system, an NES and the atari systems......I had alot of games to play......I even played that Logo turtle game on the atari....... now THAT is old school! most of you kiddies probly dont even remebr any of that.......

Oh man! I think i know what your talking about. Was it on NES? that game was so f^*#ing kool. What a good topic. I dont know my firsts but it had to be something like galaga, pong, mario, something on coleco vision or oddysee umm... dont remember. I loved mgs, adventure island, gain ground, where in the world is carmen sandiego on sega master system, altered beast, super spyhunter, double dragon, final fight, rad racer (with the 3d goggles for nes), duck hunt, and a slew of other games on nes, coleco, atari2600 and sega games. The magnavox, intellevision and stuff didnt get much play. Praise to Ralph Behr (forgot how to spell it) and the first console, THE BROWN BOX with the little switches to change games :D
-
you guys arent talking about excitebike are you?
i dont think that had any buses in it.
-
No, I don\'t think it was excite bike. It seems like it was out around the time that Evel Kneival was a big deal. Ahh, to go back to being a kid with no stress or BILLS! No that would be cool. If anyone knows where you can find that game online, let us know. I\'ll see if I can find anything.
-
my first system was the sega genesis, and hmm my first game i think it was sonic , but it could be this game i dont remember the name, but it was about this dude beatin up people, and he turned into a blue wolf sometimes and gave him more power, it was set back in rome or something, does anybody know what im talking about??
-
Altered Beast...
-
SirMystic, the game you described sounds familiar but I can\'t think what it is. Anyone. Also, for you Defender fans, http://www.defender.midway.com/ you can still play the original online. Love to find excitebike.
-
I honestly can\'t remember. I\'ve been playing games since long before I can remember. Unless my parents are lying to me.
Most likely, something on the Commodore 64. What a great machine. :) Although I could never remember how to change the font color
