Title: Possible MGS3 at E3?

December 11, 2002 - In a recent appearance on the TV Asahi television program "1984," Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima briefly discussed his plans for future game development. Particularly noteworthy were indications that Metal Gear Solid 3, or whatever the next game in the MGS series will be called, is to make its debut at the next E3 show.
Kojima also reiterated that he is researching different ways to bring the Metal Gear series online, as he mentioned earlier this year at E3. Such a game could be one of five projects he says he has in development -- Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Anubis: Zone of the Enders, Metal Gear Solid 3, a potential online Metal Gear title, and one last unconfirmed game, possibly for Game Boy Advance.

2003 should hold some good news for fans of Kojima\'s work, after this relative off-year -- look forward to further updates as more information arises.

I am looking forward to MGS3. I can\'t see how a metal gear online would work though, everybody would want to play as snake and nobody would want to be Gheyden!

Developers are going a little over board with the whole online thing.
Not every damn game has to be online for it to be successful. Whats next: Contra: Online, THPS 10, GTA: Online, Crazy Taxi: Online, blah blah.

If MGS2 or 2:S are any indication, I don\'t give a damn.

I hope he does change the play environment, becuz that
determines gameplay. Up til now the MG play environments
have been metallic manbuilt bases like the alaskan nuke
disp. fac., the tanker and the Big Shell. Lets see if Kojima
can create tight stealth gameplay in, let\'s say.... a forest or
a high populated urban area with lotsa innocent civillians.

I think the Metal Gear Solid series has about worn thin. MGS2 and Substance was huge dissapointments for most people (or so that is what I gathered from the boards, etc). It\'ll be interesting to see what Kojima has up his sleeve to redeem the series.

MGS2 was legendary. It was thought up very well and was everything I thought it was going to be. The ending was one of the best Ive ever seen.

If Hideo sticks with what he says, if its even true. He should definately keep it OFFline, change the game play, keep snake, and keep the Metal Gear story alive.

I don\'t like MGS2 story.  It\'s pretty boring.  Not to mention boring greenish or brownish color.  MGS1 is a classic.  Straightforward story and some very pleasing twists with nice color.  MGS2 seem to suck in some ways.  But it\'s not that bad.  I think Konami should simplify MG3 if they are making one and get rid of Raiden (they probably did and Snake is back) and please bring back some color.  I don\'t need vibrant fancy color, just please no more brownish/greenish same old.

I think that if Hideo decides to make an online MGS he will try to do something revolutionary, so I would like to see how it would turn out.

Just because Hideo Kojima plans to incorporate online features does not mean that MGS3 will be fully online, where hundreds of Solid Snake and Gray Fox-wannabes battle it out in a giant arena.  Kojima may just hope to allow various extras (new costumes, weapons, etc.) to be downloaded to increase replay value.  Or, as Echo stated, he may attempt something more revolutionary.

I\'m certainly interested in seeing what he has planned.  Personally, I think I\'d enjoy a Metal Gear adventure that had nothing to do with Snake, Raiden, or any other MGS components, except for the stealth/action gameplay.  Something entirely new.

Online may work. I had an Idea for this, but was rejected by other members.

I am looking forward to a MGS3. I enjoyed the second one, and still sneak around as snake and constantly run and hide from baddies.

If an online MGS comes out, I don\'t think it will be MGS3, but a completely new game. Though how a game like MGS could be played online is beyond my imagination, lets just hope it isn\'t beyond Hide Kojima\'s. Hide and Seek maybe? LOL!

No online for me. Online and story driven game nver works together. It can be added as an extra mode but NOT the main bread and butter.

MGS3 should be as cinematic and story driven like MGS2.

I love MGS2!!! And if they\'re using some of the graphic engine a seen in SH3, we\'ll be in for a treat.

I\'d love an online mode, where they create this huge facility, then you and 1 - 3 (or more I guess) people are placed on different sides of the facility and have to try and sneak in and reach a certain point before any of the people you are competing against do.

My guess is that he might try for some sort of co-operative play online.  You and a partner (or even multiple partners) have to aid eachother to sneak into an area, and unravel the mystery etc.  Think along the lines of you playing Raiden in MGS2, and someone else playing Snake at the same time.

But I doubt that would be the main mode, just added extras.  Albeit huge extras.

Multiplayer Metal Gear is hardly anything new.  It was incorporated, quite well I might add, into the GBC game MGS: Ghost Bable (Just plain MGS here in the US).  The multiplayer was done great there, what makes you think that can\'t be easily brought over to a console and over a broadband connection as opposed to a link cable?  Oh well, some people fear change or the concept of it so I\'m not surprised by most everyones response thus far.

Now that I would love (*co-op freak*)

Cant wait for MGS3.. I hope its set in a jungle or something. :)

It\'s "Raiden", and he was a giddy little school girl in a guy\'s body. I was so disappointed when I had to play him for so long.

I don\'t know how MGS would play online..wouldn\'t that horribly suck? Maybe you don\'t just get to play as Snake. Maybe you can play as the stupid soldiers and try to gun him down...:D Or Maybe you can play as the...cardboard box...that would be awesome...*ahem* I guess we\'ll just have to wait and see what Kojima has in store for us next...he hasnt\' let me down yet (except for the lame story in MGS2 that didn\'t compare with MGS1 at all)...

This is NOT about change or fear of concept. Where did u get such an offy idea?? From Osama bin Laden??

It\'s about preference. Some people just prefer offline games to online games.

Respect that.

Woo-hoo.  I\'m being related to Osama because I am willing to accept that an online portion to an MG game can be awesome.  But anyways, on with the rest of your rhetoric...

People can prefer whatever they want.  No one is forcing you to buy an online game and that\'s a fact.  You don\'t have to like it, that\'s very true, but that\'s why there is going to be a normal single player game as well.  You people act as if because there will be an online component, you\'ll be robbed of your single player game when that is HARDLY the case.  No one is cheating anyone out of anything.  Those who want it will enjoy it and those who dont, dont have to play it, but everyone will at LEAST want to try it.

It\'s silly to damn a game, or an option, that you have yet to even try.  I bet you haven\'t even played the MG multiplayer portion on the GBC and that just nullifies your points altogether seeing as you have yet to even sample multiplayer metal gear yet.
