Stupid bastards... when you want to purchase any electronic product in Spain you have to spend a entire week visiting shops and big stores asking for the device... and if you finally find it (very hard if the product was launched less than 1 year ago), the bastards tell you that the product is $XXX, almost 30% more than what you saw in internet.
I asked for a Canon G3 in a shop, and they told me that it was around 950-990€, which is more than $1000! What they are thinking on? I won\'t buy a camera in a shop in which they rob you. I\'ve seen the camera in Amazon USA for $759 (plus shipping, but I don\'t care). Now, I must ask you americans if this site is a reliable place to purchase with credit card. Is it?
I don\'t wanna have problems in a overseas purchasing... imagine if after receiving the camera it\'s broken or whatever... it\'s a big problem, you know. So, do you know any good site in USA to buy online, or do you believe that amazon is reliable enough to buy?
Thanx.
PD: I can\'t speak about amazon UK because they can\'t sell electronics out of UK or Ireland.

I\'ve bought many things from amazon.com. I\'ve never had any problems at all. In fact, one of my orders didn\'t show up after about a week and a half, and I emailed them about it, and they sent out a duplicate order that day, no questions asked. They just asked me to return one of the orders if the first one showed up eventually. I got the second order they shipped a few days later, and then, even though I never got the original shipment, I got an email from amazon a few days after that thanking me for returning the duplicate order.

You buy in amazon USA, right Alienmagic?
I also know people that bought in amazon UK, and they hadn\'t any problem, but I like to ask you before purchasing, you can advice me about some sites that I eventually don\'t know.
Thanx.

Adan,
I\'ve purchased A LOT OF STUFF from Amazon over the years. Book buying is part of my job, so I think I can say that I\'ve probably dealt with Amazon more than anyone you will meet. They are a big company, and they handle many many orders, so they occasionally make mistakes, but they are always very good about correcting them. In the old days (3-4 years ago), when they screwed something up, they would give you a $10 gift certificate in addition to correcting the problem, but that doesn\'t really happen anymore. It doesn\'t matter much, they will still solve the problem.
A couple things to be careful about: Some items are listed by Amazon, but they are actually stocked and sold by a different vendor. For example, Amazon lists some consumer electronics items with a note that says "Offered by Circuit City." In a case like that , you\'re probably better off just going to the Circuit City website and ordering directly from them. The item you\'re after is THIS, right?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006LU7J/qid=1039889304/br=1-2/ref=br_lf_p_2//102-5358650-4546565?v=glance&s=photo&n=493710
That product does not have the special "Offered by" note, so I think it\'s actually sold by Amazon. In that case, I think you\'re safe the buy it from them. The only problem is they don\'t have it in stock at the moment. If you\'re not willing to wait, you might consider some of the photo equipment retailers like http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ or http://www.kitscameras.com/ or http://www.samys.com/ Samy\'s is located very near my house, and I can vouch for them. They are a good company.
I would also recommend that you select a more expensive shipping method than whatever is the cheapest option. Make sure you get a shipper that is expensive enough to provide a tracking number and confirmations, etc. I\'d recommend that you use Federal Express if possible. I know it costs more, but it could possibly save you some BIG headaches.
Good luck!

Thank you very much for the info Coredweller. It\'s good to hear good opinions from a site you\'re going to buy in. I\'ll probably buy the camera plus a memory card compact flash from there, but I\'ll wait till they have the cameras in stock.
Sure, I\'ll choose the best shipping option, that\'s just what I don\'t wanna have: headaches.
:)
PD: yes, that\'s the camera.

Top notch company, but by all means not the best price you will find.

JODER! Buying now at amazon USA:
Apparel, camera and photo items, cell phones and service, computers, hardware, housewares, jewelry, kitchen items, magazines, outdoor living items, software (including games), and tools can be shipped only to locations within the U.S. and cannot currently be shipped to APO/FPO addresses or Puerto Rico.

DOH!!!!!

Samy\'s price is $769.95 for Internet sales. The equipment they sell is NOT gray market, but the warranty they offer is the manufacturer\'s United States warranty. That means if you bought a camera from a US retailer like Amazon or Samy\'s, you could NOT have it repaired under warranty at an authorized Canon repair facility in Spain.
I\'m not sure if Samy\'s would ship outside of the United States.
-
What\'s GRAY MARKET? I\'m checking out the sites you provided Cored, I\'m now at SAMY\'s, the other previous webs didn\'t allowed to send international shippings :(
-
there are many nice guys on this forum if worse comes to worse you could ship it to someone who lives in the US and they would have no problem sending out to you if you take care of the shipping costs
-
That\'s a nice possibility, but it would be problematic... can you imagine that I send a $800 camera to a guy that I believe he\'s reliable and doesn\'t appear in these forums any more? Grrr...
Furthermore, some shops will find problems when the credit card name and the addressee are not the same (I\'ve experienced this problem).
Thanx anyway ;)

im a reliable guy and since its xmas places like amazon expect the mailing address and the credit card address to be different because of people shipping gifts directly to the gift reciver
