My Gamecube broke on me a couple weeks ago. It stopped reading all discs. I never had been rough with it or anything...the thing just stopped working. Well, I\'ve been looking into getting it repaired since, when I discovered something. The thing broke the day the warranty expired :(. I finally went to get it fixed today, and had to shell out $80 to do it. That\'s more than half the price of a brand new console. The thing is finally working again now, but man what a difference a day makes. Had it broken one day sooner, the repairs would have been free :(

That sucks shockwave. Of allthe consoles breaking down you are the first I\'ve heard of to have Gamecube problems. I bought mine used and have had no problems whatsoever.
But the real question is....
Why didn\'t you use the Wal-mart swap trick???
-
Couldn\'t you say that the console broke "yesterday but I couldn\'t bring it here due to whatever"...?
Bad luck my friend :(
-
Well, it actually broke a few weeks ago. I just hadn\'t gotten around to doing it til now.
And yeah, the swap trick. I was considering it, but there are some pretty noticable scratches and such on it. I\'m not sure it would work.
-
The main thing is you got it working again.
-
Noticeable scratches? I thought you weren\'t rough with it. ;]
No that does suck, Nintendo is predominantly top-of-the-line with quality assurance. At least you shouldn\'t run into the problems like some people have with PS2s. Of myself and 4 friends, I\'m the only one on my original system, but even with mine, the DVD player is on the blink...

Yeah. Well, I was mainly careful with it, but it did get scratched at one point. That was when I first got it though, and this is a year later. *shrug*
I am used to Nintendo products being very durable though. Some of my older consoles have gotten their share of rough treatment, at times, and they all work fine still. Who woulda thought my GC would go before my NES did? :(
-
lol, my NES was still working when the grey outside turned brown... Then I traded it in for like 5 bucks at Gamestop.
-
I\'d never trade mine. Well...maybe if I unlock punchout on Animal Crossing :) That is the main thing I still play it for.
-
Well, I stopped playing mine a longggggg way back....
-
Samething happened to me, god bless warranty\'s :)
-
Only my PS2 broke but I got that up and working again and I\'m happy. I still have my NES and I\'ll never sell that. I\'m gonna start collecting old games as a hobby when I have spare change. NES games are like less than 10 cents here now.

Good thing everything worked out.
BTW TITAN: are you in the marines? Semper Fi.
-
Nah, I heard Semper Fi in MGS2, saw it after 9/11 and said what the hell. I put it up last year on my sig and forgot about it. BTW, I\'m going in the Air Force.
