Title: For all you computer geeks, WTF is going on?
Post by: ##RaCeR## on January 13, 2003, 03:53:02 AM
OK, there is some weird shintz going on in the land down under ##RaCeR##\'s PC.

I use Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall, and I have noticed that I have three \'Generic Host Win 32 programs\' listening to some ports. One of them is a \'Application Layer Gateway\' listening to TCP port 3000 or something.

Should I be concerned. I cannot seem to find out what these programs are, as there are no icons and I find ZA Pro pretty technical to understand.

I have used Ad-Aware and there doesn\'t seem to be anything on it that there shouldn\'t. I also use Norton Antivirus if that is of any help. Its strange, they automatically start listening to the various ports as soon as I boot the computer up.

its a packet filter used by apps,  nothing to be concerned about

3000 is a TCP port so keep a log of outgoing network traffic regardless
