Shaq doesn\'t like Yao Ming.
-
In his most recent racial taunt of Yao Ming, Shaquille O’Neal told a reporter, “Tell Yao Ming, ‘ching-chong-yang-wah-ah-soh.’” No, the superstar center of the L.A. Lakers was not trying to speak Chinese. Shaq was, in a most derisive tone, aiming a racist barb at the rookie center for the Houston Rockets.
aiming a racist barb
more like prove\'n that with out a douth that Shaq is a...
100% Moron
how would he like it if someone aim\'ed a racist barb at him.
-
Racism sucks! Reverse racism sucks! If those who are insecure about there particular race would just shut the hell up and try just once to edify others more this world would become a lot better place to live....
-
Shaq is a retard.

Shaq > Yao Ming.
Who cares?
-
Yao even said big dummy was joking.
-
It\'s not about the NBA. It\'s about racism and the media tolerating it when it comes from another minority.
Double standards suck.

Yao said that? Where?
-
a link I read about this yesterday. still searching for it.
*EDIT* This is also more of a predujice thing and not racism.
-
When people say stuff like that to Asians, it\'s like white people saying the "N" word to African Americans. That\'s how a lot of them feel.
Hell, when I was 7 years of age, I was beaten unconconsious by to white kids in 6th grade coz they didn\'t like the way I looked.

That is such an ignorant and stupid comment...
-
And Yao did say he thought Shaq was joking so he\'s not bitter...
And Yao is leading in voting for the NBA All-Star Game...
Sweet, sweet justice...
-
But was Shaq kidding?
I tell ya, I hate reverse racism. I hate racism...PERIOD.
-
shaq is an idiot and hes just jelous that yao is taking attention away from him.
-
No one can answer that but shaq gman.
Ashford, that comment VS made wasnt ignorant. Shaq is greater than Yao, in BBall anyway.
-
dont they play each other this week?

Shaq can score from more than 5 feet away? REALLY?

Doesn\'t matter, Shaq puts up more points and thats all their team ask for.
-
Doesnt matter. Shaq does what his role on the team calls for. I hate when ppl say shaq is only so good b/c he is so big. That is exactly the point. If jordan or kobe werent so quick, they wouldnt be much good either.

Of course what Vapor said was ignorant...
So what if Shaq is a better player? He gets to make racial comments?
Guess what?
He\'s also better than you, in basketball...
Is it ok if he makes derogatory comments about your mother?
-
Uhhh, I dont think VS was trying to say b/c shaq is so good he can make those comments and niether was I.
-
He was responding to a thread about Shaq making supposed racial comments and his response was "Shaq > Yao, Who cares?".
What would you make of that?
-
And to think that impressionable kids look up to Shaq. Sad really.
-
I think thats f****d up on shaq\'s behalf. He should of at least said something else about Yao Ming than just joking him about his heritage. I bet he has lost respect from many people because of this.
BTW i think both Shaq and Yao Ming are excellent players!
-
What\'s most disappointing about this situation is the way the sports media covers up for O\'Neal on every opportunity. They tried to bury this story, and thank god they failed. This kind of sh1t needs to get out. Yes, O\'Neal is a complete idiot. He probably has nothing against chinese people, but he\'s from the south, so he\'s ignorant about them. He thinks he\'s being funny, but nothing he says is ever really funny. He\'s surrounded by people who tell him how great he is, so naturally he thinks he\'s funny.
Shaq\'s comments don\'t really bother me because I\'ve know what a dumbass he is for a very long time. I wonder what he\'ll be thinking about when the Lakers are eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, and he goes home to watch a Rockets game on TV? :)

I made nothing of it since VS\' posts usually have little to no substance.
I made nothing of shaqs original comment b/c he is an ass plain and simple.
Just like when john rocker made his comments, I htought nothing of it either since he as well is an idiot.

Dude, you are wayyyyyyyyyy ahead of yourself. I merely said that Shaq is better, and who cares about this petty quarrel. I didn\'t justify what Shaq said was right, although I did find it funny, and pathetic at how offended some of you are getting, particularly you.

You would like the change in pace over here... when a Sporting Personality Mucks up over here inthe UK.
they are Ripped apart by the media like a Fluffy Bunny rabbit by a pack of hunger wolfs.
IF Shaq was a UK player then he would of been branded a Racist Thug within seconds of saying it.
If anything Shaq should count himself lucky.
-
Yeah, in the US, the biggest sports stars just get a free ride to say or do anything. That includes the Refs AND the journalists. They all just line up and kneel on their Lakers monogrammed knee pads, and service O\'Neal & Bryant whenever they snap their fingers. They\'re too busy wiping their chins to think about reporting every offhand racist comment a superstar might utter.
-
I think there are two main reasons why the media didn\'t say much about this. 1) Shaq plays for the Lakers and well lets face it "The Lakers are the Gods of Basketball" according to the media. and 2) Shaq is the biggest and probably most intimidating player in the NBA. If someone like Reggie Miller for instance would\'ve said that the media would\'ve eaten him alive for it.
Btw...I don\'t consider "reverse racism" to be any different from racism. Either way you look at it its plain stupidity.

Now the self righteous shit is even starting to get under my skin. Like NO one in here has never EVER muttered a racist or prejudice comment amongst friends as a joke. Just b/c they are athletes and in the spotlight, makes them no better than us "common folk" That and their money, that is another one of the reasons they feel they shouldnt be held accountable for their actions.
-
/me is frightened at the fact that he agrees with luckee

Hey, stranger things have happend. Remember months ago when I agreed with you? :D
-
Since we are on the subject of Shaq, wtf is up with the Lakers. They are on a 4 game winning streak but are 17-20.
-
Shaq blows chinese dildo!!

There IS a difference between saying something like that to your friends, and saying it to a crowd of journalists with video cameras and tape recorders. He should have kept it to his friends. That\'s what I would have done.

So there\'s no need to improve ourselves then? To set a better standard? To just say "What the hell. If Luckee is racist, I may as well be one too."
Wonderful.
-
i hate whitey
shaq was kidding around, but theres a difference between kidding around in your house with your freinds and kidding around on frickin tv.
yao isnt offended, so why should i be?
like i said, i think shaq\'s a little jelous.

no its the Seamily American and sometimes British mentality that if your good at a Sport (From High School to Pro) then your "above the law".
American Examples
Shaq
Preferential treatment of High School Jocks
British example
George Best
Roy Keane

And when you have status like shaq, EVERYONE is your friend or wants to be.
--------------------------------
gman: I didnt say that, but that is how it is in the "elite" circle at times. I still think he is an idiot, but for that same reason is why I believe he was actually joking.
----------------------------
007: EXACTLY, which is why it shouldnt be taken so seriously. One can almost always tell when someone says what they mean, in the spotlight or not.

yeah but Mr Shaq as a Sporting "hero" has also the responsibility to act like one.
Joke or not there will be some people both for and against what he said, will take it to hart.
-
not really, its our society that FORCES ppl in the spotlight to become role models b/c they are too damn lazy to be them for their children.
-
Society forces this on us? We watch sports. Kids watch sports. It\'s part of our culture in nearly every part of the world. Kids look up to some of those who are excellent atheletes and want to know how they got to be that way. For Shaq to be like this just regenerates racism.
You think this is self righteous? I\'ve been in too many fights because racist slurs thrown at me. I got aching knuckles to prove it. I\'ve put my foot down on the faces of blacks, whites, Hispanics, Koreans and Chinese people coz of the racist crap they said to me.
Living in and out of the US has its downsides.
-
yes it does. we as americans are lazy as shit in general. parents have the responsibility to guide their children and not let stars do it for them.
Yes I do.
I have as well being of mnay different backrounds, but yet im never enough of one backround or another. So we seem to be in the same shoes.
On the other hand, I can usually tell the difference form a joke, a slur ghosted as a joke, and an all out slur and the one shaq made just seems to be a joke.
-
You think you know what I\'ve been through? Bull. You think we seem to be in the same shoes? You\'ve ever been a victim of racial hate and bigotry? Been threatened to be burned?
I smell cow manuer from you.
What Shaq said is exactly the kind of cat calls I got in school in the US. Imagine walking into a cafeteria and everyone starts doing kung moves at you or starts voicing ethnic slurs.
You need to get out more.
-
do you even know what my backround is?
Get out more?
I have lived in several major cities in my life. Most of my life is spent out in the real world.
Find out more about someone b4 trying to call them out......
-
The way you sound, it seems you know very little of the real world despite the obvious details I\'ve told you about myself. It\'s not my fault you have no clue.
-
sounds to me you are also looking wayyyyyyy to much into my similar shoes comment.
Like I said, find out more b4 calling me out.
-
Yeah, you shouldn\'t have made the comment about "walking in my shoes" or "being in the same shoes" when you never have. It\'s pathetic to claim you know what I\'m talking about when you don\'t.
-
you just wanna fight dont you?
newsflash: we dont have to be of the same backround to fill similar shoes.
How in the hell would you know if I know what you are talking about or not? You have NO idea, where as I am going off something YOU posted.
-
Clearly you don\'t know. So stop pretending you do.
-
Shaq is cool
