Um, can we bomb them now?

Acting on information provided by Western intelligence, the UN inspection teams discovered a number of documents proving that Saddam is continuing with his attempts to develop nuclear weapons, contrary to his public declarations that Iraq is no longer interested in producing weapons of mass destruction.
The revelation follows last Thursday\'s discovery of a number of warheads at an ammunition storage facility south of Baghdad that had been designed for carrying chemical and biological weapons.
Although UN officials say that they have no comment to make at present on the documents found at the scientists\' homes, a Western diplomat closely involved with the investigation into Saddam\'s nuclear capability yesterday confirmed that the documents showed that Iraq was still attempting to develop its own atomic weapons.
"These are not old documents. They are new and they relate to on-going work taking place in Iraq to develop nuclear weapons," the official told The Telegraph.
"They had been hidden at the scientists\' homes on Saddam\'s personal orders. Furthermore, no mention of this work is made in the Iraqi dossier that was submitted to the UN last December."

they have already discovered a 300 page document on Weapons grade plutonium at the house of a government scientist.
something tells me that the decision to attack was made long ago.
its just a matter of When.
-
OMG, THAT MEANS IRAQ WAS LYING!1111
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT!!!111
:p

Why hasn\'t the US press picked up on this? I know why, but it\'s still amazing the UK picks up on this we don\'t.
Did anyone see the History channel last night? They did a few shows about our buddy Saddam. There is no question what he is doing.

It is. The UK has mobilised one third of all it\'s troops. They wouldn\'t send that many if there wasn\'t any need for it. One of my old school friends was stationed in Germany, I think he was one of the ones that were given the order to move out.
-
It\'s true Cerberus, about 26,000 troops to be exact have been called up.
-
War is coming no matter what Blix (Blinxs :D) finds.
-
I knew they would try to hide something.
Lets hope it can all turn out okay.
-
This just in, Saddam has a dangerous weapon in his ass, and he is liable to use it. Better hand out gas-masks.
-
Is this invasion of Iraq gonna be anything like what they did with Afghanistan? I heard it\'s gonna be BLOODY.... :(
-
Saddam says that he\'s gonna defeat us. We kicked his ass once in a couple months, we can do it again. He broke the treaty and now needs to be taught a lesson (although he broke the treaty the day after he signed it  )
-
why dont we just go and take out this guy once and for all anyone else with me lets go...or LETS ROLL
-
im with you shawn. ill bring the gas station banner, maybe we\'ll get a discount.

Of coarse, the liberal left will never be satisfied with war even if Saddam brings out his ready made nuclear bomb and sets it off in Israel. Especially with nations that are pretty much controled by the left, like France and Germany. In fact, here is a quote, from a CNN article, on what the French President thinks about war...
Chirac said. "Secondly, as far as we\'re concerned, war always means failure."
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/01/22/sprj.irq.wrap/index.html
This idea of thinking could explain France\'s reaction of, always surrendering in a war.
As for the war that is coming. IMO, it will be quick with few casulaties. We\'ve learned from Desert Storm (and this war was also relatively quick) and, if Afganistan is any indication (another war that was supposed to be long and bloody that turned out to be quick with few casulaties) the same will be said about this new war in Iraq.
-
The weapons should be much better now after 10+ years... they probably have a missile that can lock on to Saddam personally. ;)

It\'s b/c we dont need a war. We need to assasinate him. Why send more of our own back home in bodybags. Everyone including saddam knows he will lose. So that leads me to believe it is just a trap to get us in and kill our good guys with some type of WOMD. We already know he has no problem doing these things to his own country men, so we can safely assume dropping something heavy on our guys there is a given as well.
If you knew you were going out, wouldnt you go out with a bang?

If it were that easy I would be in total agreement with you luckee. Unfortunately as we all know the guy has body doubles and moves around every night. I think the CIA has been trying to get him for years. He is another Bin Laden and I think that when we do defeat Iraq he will be another MIA just like Osama.

So what is the point of a war then? I dont mind constant airstrikes as we lost hardly any aircraft. Or just launching tons of cruise missles from ships. I just dont want our ground troops in there. I have a bad feeling this time.
-
Well, the point of the war, is, of coarse, get rid of Saddam (hopefully). AS WELL as, getting rid of the WMD so that it won\'t be used against our allies in the area (even if we eliminate Saddam, that still leaves the messy issue about where the WMD are and whos hands they wind up in), and help establish a real government in Iraq (I didn\'t say rebuild the nation, though that is probably what we are going to do anyways [and I\'m not sure how that is going to bowl over, hopefully for the better], just establish a more stable government minus one really insane dictator).
And eliminating the dictator doesn\'t help much if one of his sons, who are just as bad, or EVEN WORSE then Saddam himself takes power (one of his sons litterally toutures sports players in Iraq if they lose).

screw the french... nothing but f*ckin\' cowards anyway- we don\'t need them to get the job done.....
-
Which is not going to happen. He wont hesitate to use them on us and his ppl when we are on the ground.
-
U.S. wants OIL!!
haha nah im just trying to bother you people. I was watching the news today and this guy called "el brujo major" came out to predict the future. He said there would be a war, and that iraq would use everything they have against us. Also, that the expectations of the outcome of the war won\'t be pleasing at all.

You see, this is what I would like to see Bush say at his next press meeting or maybe at the State of the Union.
The French and the Germans(what a pair) are trying to sandbag this whole thing because of their interests in Iraq. Also, lets not forget that France sold Iraq all that they needed to build a reactor. Luckily Israel decided to flatten it before it went on-line.
