He asked for it and he got it and now he\'s going to kill us? Silly little people.

Too little, too late.
But if this place starts to show promise again, I\'ll start posting properly.
-
I tryed to control spam once... Remember the spamanators.. or however it\'s spelt.. but some good people that are now mods/admins didn\'t mind the spam.. Looks like it\'s bitten u guys in the arse...
There\'s a saying, Give a kitten a crum and he\'ll want a cookie.
-
Oh well, glad to see people responding well to this initiative. I remember when I was part of the team cracking down on the whole "Spaminators era o\' spam" - and boy, did (some) people cry a f*cking river.
-
Vapor\'s penis is this big (small): |----|
So uh, what was the question again?
j/k
-
You might also notice some threads being reopened after a mod deleted the posts in question. :)
So yeah, I\'m certainly not in favor of closing every thread that\'s just the slightest bit \'off track\'. If need be I\'d rather just delete the individual post(s) even if it means more work. But to each his own.
-
I have a feeling that I may be one of these people. Either way, I\'ll try to take it down a level.
-
Basically, from my own views of my posts a lot of pretty useful stuff that contributes to threads. In between however, I often post a few pretty random things that don\'t contribute much. I\'ll try to limit the in between posts.

/me points to Vapor...
crap, mother told me never to point fingers!

I don\'t mind when people give short replies. Or funny replies. Or whatever.
My main problem is when people ruin threads. I am so tired of deleting posts.
It\'s amazing that Kopking, Heat, Vapor, theomen, and various other love interests I have left out don\'t notice their posts counts going down all the time. I guess that\'s the great thing about not having the post count up.
We were hoping to not make a huge stink about this. Luke actually tried PMing several people.
And Vapor is gone now because of the reply he made in the Tigress thread. It was just rude and uncalled for. It actually wasn\'t even that, he was warned by a mod and he was rude in his reply. He\'s only going to lose access for a couple days, but on the weekend of the championship game I can\'t think of a better time. :)
And can we please get good threads!!!! Enough of the socks, nipples, pictures of 3 day old pizza.
-
Actually I don\'t delete yours as much as kopking and vapor. Kopkings replies are always, "That was funny" and that\'s it. Yawn.
-
Spaminators were never like this though Sammy. We were post whores, but we didn\'t post stupid crap.
And the spaminators are not going anywhere. We live on!!!
-
Exactly. That is what the difference is. If I post a thread about a Lava Lamp used as a toruist trap, really anything goes in that thread. But I don\'t want to see Vapor going anal on theomen in the war on iraq thread.
-
I have noticed you\'ve calmed down quite a bit. I haven\'t had to delete nearly as many.
Although now I can just adjust your post count rather then spending the time deleting posts. :)
-
I agree with him a 100%. Off Topic has a reputation for a certein wackyness that we all know and love, but there is a small group of people that take it too far, and let\'s face it they are overdoing a very used joke (you all know what it is).
There are good threads that either just go out off controll with stuff that wasn\'t the original topic. Those topics if they cannot be saved will end up locked. Or they are basically polluted with one or two remarks which really serve no purpose at all, those posts will be deleted.
By all means continue wackiness we all love it and it makes OT what it is, some of you just need to cool it down. There seems to be a total absence of worth while threads around here.
.
.
.
woah...mod power trip :p
-
Look people, some of you might be confusing short posts with spam.
There\'s nothing wrong with posting something like your feelings of something in a topic in one line or something, that\'s contributing to the topic at hand. It\'s just when either good topics are ruined by useless posts or entire threads that span 2+ pages with nothing in it but "I rape this" "no, I jizz there" etc comments in them.
And by all means, continue some of the useless posts, as I said in my earlier post, it is the sillyness that makes OT so special and a lot of the fun is bound to spam posts. We\'re just asking those who do the most of it (you know who you are) to just tone it down a little. You don\'t have to reply to every thread with useless comments.....only when those comments are funny ;)

Spamming
Contributing off-topic material into a thread / threads.
Spammer
A member whom constantly replies with one-word-posts, does not read the true content of the thread but spams it with off-topic material instead, giving no respect to the thread-originator and the real message within. All-around annoying person. Usually very young pre-teen or just loose-headed teenager.
Snap out of your fantasies, boys. Be active, but be active in a good way. Never complain about the lenght of a thread / reply. Blame your own attention-span if you fail to read through the long texts. Instead of whining, respect the author - whom probably sacrificed a long while writing it down - and shut up.
-
If a serious, well-written thread ends up being a conversation about the lenght of Vapor\'s penis, I am disappointed. If I sacrifice both time and thought into making a thread about a serious / unserious subject, I expect the members to respect the words I have poured out and \'thus reply with quality.
A short-winded, on-topic reply should not be labelled as spam, though.
-
There are cetain members here, who are pushing the spam barrier too far.
I\'ve never been one to complain about spam, or punish for it, but lately shits gone too far. I look forward to coming home from work and reading Off Topic, but lately its been completely retarded in here.
Every frickin thread gets ruined by the same god damn 4 or 5 people, im not gonna call anybody out but you know who you are, and everybody else knows who you are.
The rest of the staff and I have been discussing this for awhile now, and its gotta stop.
I ****in\' PRIDE myself on being a Off Topic mod, and I wont let this forum go to complete crap. Its at an all time low right now, and it wont go any lower.
You will be noticing some members being gone, and some of you will notice more of your posts being deleted.
This is a crack down.

There\'s nothing to be sad about. At last the mods are finally doing something about the situation here. As long as they can back up their promise, I don\'t think anyone will be sad.
Anyways, I am also overjoyed with this. I\'m sure I\'m not the only one who was seriously considering posting something like this. Finally an actual mod did(although Ryu tried soemthing like this not to long ago...to no avail).
I have doubts that they will come through will this promise, but I\'m confident they can keep the worhtless posts down to a decent level. I\'m tired of seeing eveyr ****ing thread turning into "I\'m gonna rape you"(afraid to call out someone huh?...Chizzy that\'s you!), "I\'m gay your gay yeah let\'s all be gay", or Vapor being an extreme moron thus influencing more morons to posts, etc. The quality of threads have radically gone down after the first 5 or so posts then it gets ruined by the same 5 members like Luke pointed out. Hopefully this will stop or be reduced significantly.
Speaking of Luke, I found it very ironic that you happened to post this. A good amount of your posts border line on being spam, and fair amount are. You may not be "pushing the spam barrier too far", but as a mod, you are almost pushing it.
And the spaminators and southern alliance influence all the crap spamming that\'s going on today. Neither ruled.

see now... this is a good thread.

And it\'s good to see you "cracking down".
I was going to start a thread about the Beatles, but I got tired and started bouncing a ball instead. My bad "dawgs".

what this thread was meant to stop.
-
Well... Finally. Well, I enjoyed most of Vapor\'s posts, even though they were spam. It was probably because I wasn\'t here as much as the rest of you, having to read it constantly... Man, you guys are............. geeks. :) j/k.
-
Good call LUKE!
I have noticed the number of threads and posts over they last few weeks has increased dramatically. Many of them seem to be a waste of space.
What we need is good topics, funny topics and anything relevant that can incite a good honest discussion.
-
Sad that it had to come to this.
-
We=me, sweet
-
actually vid, i have cut down a hell of a lot on spam posts, im hoping many peep have noticed, i am no longer the king of spam, many memeber post way more shit than me
-
lol, well i kinda relise it was pissing some peep off, so have cut down very much, and stop playing with my post count, im a sad loser, and its all ive got
-
no i was the king of spam, either theomen or vapoursnake have taken the crown
-
personally i wish the main forum would wake up a bit more, i mean theres never much to read in there, and this is meant to be about games, u know, its the main reson i came here in the first place
-
Ok, I\'ll admit that I\'m probably the biggest spammer. I\'ll chill and take it easy. But I\'m so close to 5000 :(

When did someone mention my cack? Anyway, back on topic, I agree with luckee. The plain out stupid ones should be deleted but the fun ones should stay.

THANK YOU so very much!!!!!!!!!!!!
I\'ve been waiting for this for a loooong time. Great job!
-
yea, but there is a big difference between posting something humerous or just flat out stupidity.
While I do agree that some are over zealous in closing a thread. Like the pete rose one or another that exscapes me at the moment.
I also think some threads should be left alone. Its easy for a thread to side track b/c the topic or another posters response reminds them of something esle. Its also a entirely different thing when 4-8 posts in a row are "my penis is big"..theomen is a homo" titan sux cack" The thread spudz made about absolutly nothing comes to mind as well. Those should be closed. A post here or there should just be deleted instead of the thread resulting in a close.

-
More power to you, it\'s my respnsability on another forum to do the same thing you are trying to do here....... keep spam down. I appreciate your actions. I will make a consious effeort to cut any pointless posting out too.
-
Oh don\'t worry Sir Mystiq... more people hate me than they do you... of that I am certain. ;)

All of a sudden this place has lost a lot of its fun due to the fact that threads are being closed and a few are complaining about spam. Personally, I find it humorous when people post funny replies in "serious" topics. That is what gives this forum its flavor. If censorship is going to start here don\'t think that membership will increase.
Granted, sometimes a member gets out of line, but the rash of closed threads is becoming an epidemic. Since all this began I am sure quite a few people are now hesitant to post anything humorous since it might be closed. This is only a forum, lets have fun and if you can\'t take it and don\'t know how to laugh... too bad.
Sure there are serious topics, but with the way things are going I wouldn\'t be suprised if someone suggests we start using Roberts Rules of Order.
-
I agree wholeheartedly luckee. It just seems lately that there have been some undeserved topic closings. Can\'t admins just delete a single post without deleting the whole thread?
-
It certainly is better than shutting down a whole thread. The only drawback is if someones post gets deleted they *might* get upset with the mod, but in general I think the mods are pretty fair here.
-
My name not mentioned....not even once, how insulting. None the less, I\'ll limit my rape posts (which I already have limited to like 2 a week max, other people talk about my rapings more than I do). The posts that are more prevelant now are the hot ghey sex threads.
-
I feel much better. I would also like to mention Shox and Vapor as my fellow post sluts (we\'re not post whores because we do it for free)
-
personally I like the occasional spam, but lately threads are killed before they can even get off the ground.
-
i don\'t remember having any of my posts deleted, but then again I never look at my post total.
-
*looks around*
Okay fine, I\'ll tone it down a bit.
-
I read all of this, and I wonder how any of you can consider this "bad". Then again, I saw worse at the cc\'s, and yeah...had some bad times over there.
Anyway, yeah, I really don\'t post much outside of sports topics anyway, but whatever needs to be done, I shall contribute, or something like that.
See Yuz.
-
Don\'t shout at me for this, Vapor wanted me to post something
Mr. Lewis (Vapor) says - "I am banned, and i\'m going to kill you with my shoes."
-
If it makes you feel any better, theomen, i named some people who i thought were the select few over AIM to shockwaves, and you were one of the people that i mentioned last.
;)
-
If you dont like 80% of the people, why post?
-
I don\'t care about spammers that much, even though I do spam sometimes....SOMETIMES...I mean sometimes a thread might not be getting any replies, somebody posts something out of topic, everybody replies and starts bashing and going gay on each other. So WE are all spammers. Yep.
Ohh and I like everysingle one of you, even the ones that hate me like Titan and Giga, you people are all cool in my book of coolness.
