Hey...
I was wondering if anyone has heard about a BMW Compact facelift? I heard it would come this summer, but I haven\'t been able to find any pics of it. Would anyone have some more info on this?
-
compact? No clue. 5 series redesign comes out next year. All I know.
-
Do you have the Compact in the States?
-
sammy do u mean the 316i?
-
nothing smaller than the 325. I don\'t even think you can buy the 4 cylinder anymore here in the states.

No the BMW 3-series Compact... A smaller version of the 3 series. Different exterior, same interior. Same engines (well, up to 325 at least).
-
I heard about it a while back. I think it was just a rumor in one of my past Motor Trend mags. Other than that I have not heard anything else.
-
Oops, I was wrong. Here, is this what you were looking for?

We had something similar not long ago called the 318Ti. The car you posted just looks like a revamped 318Ti. Maybe they are bringing it back.
-
I have never liked the compact to be honest, any changes to it will certainly be for the better.

that looks alot like the 316i.
edit- well i just visited the local BMW site and there seems to be several types of compacts, but until now i\'ve only seen the 316i (the old version) on the roads
sammy u can find some pics here (http://www.bmw.com/bmwe/products/automobiles/3er/compact/index.html) (go to the downloads section).

damm that car is H-O-T-T

Personally, it just looks like another BMW to me. Except this one is more round....(if that makes any sense) Personally, i dont care for the car, although i would be interested to see what it has under the hood.
-
heres another pic i found it is from some euro motor show, the CS1 on the second floor display looks sweet too :).
-
It\'s just a coupe with a 4 cylinder in it. No big whoop.
Is this the hatchback?
I\'d rather have the red car in the back. :)

I think you\'re confusing yourself. The Compact is like the 3-series. Just a bit smaller. It\'s available with the SAME engines as the 3-series; that is: 316, 318, 320 (and 320d) and finally 325. The 325 being a 6-cylinder of course.
Personally I like the car. I still prefer the ordinary 3-series, but if that is a 10/10, I\'d rate the Compact 9/10 - so naturally I\'d like to own either of them.
-
well the only 6 cylinder you listed was the 325. I didn\'t see it was offered in the 325 so I assumed it was the 4 cylinder.
Although if you ask Luckee, there is nothing wrong with a 4 cylinder.
:)

Yeah, that also means it wasn\'t only 4-cylinder engines. :p
Besides, the BMW engine I\'m interested in is still the 320d. :)

The 325 Compact is only like 0.5 secs from the 330 when it comes to 0-100 kph (0-60 mph). :p
The 320d like I want is also only marginally slower than a 330 when it comes to acceleration from 80-120 kph. And that\'s before I put a different chip in that\'ll up the torgue to some 400 nm. :D
-
Chips don\'t do anything in BMWs because they are already tuned to a higher compression. Until you add a cold air intake, exhaust, etc, the only thing the chip does is pulls off the limiter (Which you probably wouldn\'t have anyway) and increases the redline.
0-60 is .7 different, but believe me, there is a huge difference when driving the thing. I test drove both, A LOT. and 325 did nothing for me after driving the 330. But it\'s like 5-7 grand different. DOn\'t get me wrong, they both kick ass.

Now you\'re being silly again old man... ;)
The 320d is a turbo engine. Chipping it is very easy and does indeed give a performance boost. :)
Trust me on these things, I know my stuff.
-
you said 325, not 320d.
Doh, just noticed you shifted gears on me mid stream.
Yes, you can chip a diesel. You are correct sir.

No wonder that show gets so much flack. Even the camera man doesn\'t crud about cars. :p
