Haha, I know you didn\'t just say Flaming Lips. She Don\'t Use Jelly is likely the best song of all time, if not the most pivotal, influential song in musical history.
My bands/performers would run like this:
Live
Elvis
Greenday
With mentions to
Eminem
Metallica
Disturbed
Godsmack
Without getting carried away, those are my favorites.

That\'s an uplifting bunch of bands ya got nO-One...
like just about your whole list jumpman, cept I haven\'t heard much soundgarden.
if you\'re interested in getting into some Soundgarden, then check out Badmotorfinger and Superunknown. Badmotorfinger is more of an original metal kind of of CD while Superunknown is more grunge ala Nirvana. Superunknown is definitely the better of the two though. One of the top ten albums of the 90\'s IMO.

Hmm...lately i\'ve been listening to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins, Black Sabbath/Ozzy, and Megadeth. I dont really have a favorite band, because it seems like i\'m into different bands every month.
I dont like punk music because i hear it FAR to often at my school. All of the mormons (no offence if any of you are mormon) listen to "punk" music. JEW, Mr. Whipple or whatever the **** you call him, basically as close as "extreme" as they can listen to without the "foul language". And considering my school is pretty much mormons, i get my fair share of "punk" music.
-
I\'m not much of a punk fan, I can\'t say I even remotely like it. Quite the opposite. I just hate the way they all sound, the singers are all trying to sound the same now. Punk is IMO the worst somewhat popular music genre.
Bob, so basically...
Pantera
Tool
A Perfect Circle
The Beatles
The Doors
Rammstein
Marilyn Manson
Opeth
Nirvana
Led Zeppelin
Electric Light Orchestra
Slayer
MegaDeth
?
-
It\'s not punk. It\'s a deformed mutation that\'s taken pop characteristics and fused them with the semi-punk guitars. It has no meaning, no semblence of rebellion, of the raw uncut lyrics/music/singing that made punk what it was.
At least the popular Punk Rock. I can\'t believe people refer to bands such as Blink 182 as punk rock, have they ever even heard the Sex Pistols? Or the Dead Kennedy\'s?
Yes, Jumpy. Although I editted in Black Sabbath, Sound Garden and Faith No More.
-
And Luke, I am truely disappointed that you didn\'t include FNM.
You call yourself a Mike Patton fan...
-
i like mike patton in faith no more. if i were to get into every side project patton does ill spend my entire life collecting cd\'s. Plus, heres something i noticed about patton lately... did you ever notice he sings through every single part of every single song even if the part of the song doesnt call for vocals at all? i mean, he sings through the ENTIRE song every time, if theres a part with no words, he just makes something up like "aaaahooooooowhaaaaahoooooo"
just something i noticed about our beloved mike patton.
but i should have added faith no more to my list, my bad.
oh and square, punk is the lamest foprm of music there is now, and i am a HUGE PUNK FAN.
listen to the bouncing souls, afi, avail... those are about the ONLY good punk bands around anymore.
and god love the misfits, you call yourself a punk fan and the misfits arent one of your favorite bands? BLASPHEMER!
-
no stopping these guys
1.counting crows
2.sether
3.jack johnson
-
Me and my friends refer to the "punk" music most of the mormon people at my school listen to as, "Mormon rock".
Again...no offence if anyone here is mormon.
-
punk music is dead, seriously there are only like 2 or 3 bands anymore that are any good at all.
punk got popular, and that killed it.
shit, getting popular was the WORST thing that ever coulda happened to punk, it goes against its very being.
P.S. New Found Glory is the worst band EVER.

He..
..doesn\'t sing in the piano solo at the end of Epic...
That\'s the only one that comes to mind, right now. :)
Oh, and I added Strapping Young Lad and Ocean Machine to my list.
-
Punk lost all of its energy that used to make it so good when it became popular.
Then Cobain was right to take that energy away and made grunge the popular music, though it soon died after he did. A lot of genres in music just seem to be really popular for a while, then another one comes along and takes it place.
