Title: just purchased our PS2, and I have 2 memory cards....How do you...
Post by: GKH on January 24, 2003, 05:39:11 PM
access the saved files. We are playing Grand Turismo 3, and we save the files, and we can see them in the memory blocks, but we cannot get to them. It must be something simple, but I can\'t figure it out - very frustrating.

For example: \'taking some of the tests...leave the game, and come back the next day, and how do you get back to where you left off?

And, what if two people are keeping separate records? Isn\'t that possibly?

Help please..... Thanks!!

if u have the memory card in the ps2 while gt3 is loading, then it should automatically load the stuff you have saved, then go into the franchise(or whatever its called) and it should have ur game there. if that doesnt work go to the options and load it from there. And i am not sure if you can have 2 guys on 1 memory card, but since u have 2 memory cards, ud be able to have 2 separate saved games. And if u just played on memory card 1, and u want to switch to memory card 2 without having to reset, then ud go into the options menu, load, then select the memory card.

all of the stuff written above is true, except that save/load file isn\'t in the options menu, but directly at the title screen.
good luck!

Okay, but if you want to switch to the other player\'s records, it let\'s you access the other memory blocks on the card, but if you move to a particular memory block, it does indicate what is in that block at the bottom of the screen, but when clicking on it, the option it gives you is \'copy\' or \'delete\'. How do you open it to continue where you left off?

You\'re referring to the Memory Card control panel. When you turn on the console without any game, it gives you 2 options: Navigator and Memory Card. If you select the Memory Card option, you will see the info saved in your memory card, the size of the saved games, info, etc. Those options you said (copy, delete) are only operations at memory card level. I mean if you select copy, you will copy a saved game to another memory card in slot 2.

In order to begin your GT3 with a previous saved game, just insert the disc and reset the system. It will load automatically the saved game and you will be able to continue the license or whatever.

If it doesn\'t load at the game\'s starting, you should check the game options and see if auto-load is active.

I did that, and selected memory card 1 ,,,shows the blocks, and what\'s on them. I then loaded the game (CD), and reset to start the game. I go to the license center (simulation mode), but it doesn\'t show the completed tests. It\'s like it\'s starting from the beginning.

It\'s got to be something simple, I am missing?!! I cannot believe this - ha!

The tests that were saved from last night are in the memory card, as you can see at the bottom of the file operations screen, but I cannot load them. So; it shows everything in Simulation mode as starting from the beginning (18,000 credits, etc,,,)

Are you sure you saved the passed licence tests?

Yes, and you can see them in the File Operation screen (that shows the memory blocks). I never did see the \'Navigation\' screen you referred to, however.

So really,,,the question is \'how do you open those memory blocks?\' so you can resume where you left off? And Sony\'s instructions are crap!

Sorry, it was a translation mistake. In spanish "browser" is Navegador, so I translated the word as "Navigator". Excuse me.

Then I dunno what\'s your problem.

Okay.... I went to \'Replay\' theater and loaded the memory blocks for \'replays\' of the tests already taken. Seems like I am getting somewhere...... It shows the replays, but that\'s it.

Any ideas?

Ah, I think I know what your problem is!

It seems you have only saved the replays rather than the game itself, to save the game you click on the save icon with the picture of a memory card on it, not the save icon with the movie camera on it.

My wife (yeah! she love\'s it!!) saved all of her tests in the Rally segment that she so far passed. When she goes back in to access and resume, it shows nothing - like starting from the beginning - like brand new; yet if you look at the memory card in File Operation, you can see them (the tests) in the memory blocks.

You go to load, and memory card 1 shows NO GT3 DATA. But yes, the replays are accessible, but that\'s all i can get.

She has clicked on the wrong save option by the sounds of it. After you complete a test/race there are a row of yellow buttons at the bottom of the screen. The option to save the game is the second one along I think. It sound as if she has click on the save replay button by mistake.

I think you may have some hardware/software problem (the game or the memory card may could be wrong).

Found out the problem........Actually; not a problem. After each session, and saving everything in the main menu, before shutting down - press the \'reset\' button on the front of the PS/2. When you fire the PS2 back up later, just load the game from whichever card you saved it to. All info is there.

It works great, and saves the session!

Cool!
