Yesterday night, 21:20 in southern Spain. The Earth shook for a while: the furniture, paintings and lamps began to shake, and people went out of their homes.
It was a 4.8 earthquake in the Ritcher scale. Th epicenter was 120 kms from here, but I could feel it clearly. Never felt one before.
What\'s been your higher earthquake? Anybody survived to a 10.0 shake? :D

Australia doesn\'t get too many earthquakes, very rare actually. Couple of months ago, Brisbane got a 3.1, you could feel it but it wasn\'t all that, no one seemed to care.

I was in Mexico one time doing a story in Guadilahara ( I can\'t spell).
I was setting up for the interview and the house shook like a mother. Dishes came off shelves, lights swinging. It was cool. We don\'t have anything in FL, so it was pretty neat. If ithappened just 5 minutes later I would have had it all on tape.
We then went to Menzania where the epicenter was. It was cool. Traveled through ancient volcanoes and crap to get their. A couple hotels collapsed and houses were goners. It was really neat. Well, it was neat because I didn\'t live there. It was a mess I should say.
GOt some really nice stories though to bring back to the states.

Meh, no earthquakes around here. Nothing that can be felt anyway. :)

Australia gets thousands of earthquakes.
You just never feel it.
You stupid fucking emu.

yeah, there are earthquakes going on about every minute or so around the world. Go to some of the earthquake websites.

It\'s true, there are thousands of earthquakes all the time around the world. But only those that are over 1 or so are noticiable. An earthquake over 6 is very dangerous. Better yesterday didn\'t happen nothing important. How big was that in Los Angeles years ago?

I liked it when I felt one.
-
we had a small quake here back around the mid 80\'s I was in elementary school. Yes we have had a couple Minor quakes here in ohio
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:

Earthquakes never occur here in Finland - and \'thus I have never experienced one.
-
There was one here a few weeks ago.. I didnt feel it, as I was sleeping :)
-
My first experience was 26th September 2002 an 1am the whole house shook for about 10 seconds. It was a 4.8 on the richter scale. We actually had a thread about it, here\'s the link.

the first time i was ever in a earth quake was 1991 in oakland the land spilt right in half i broke my arm because a table fall on it but other then that i was ok

We get a hell of a lot of earthquakes in alaska. Mostly just little vibrations in the ground, but you can notice them. Anwhere between a 1 to a 5 on the richter scale. Some of them have been pretty bad though.
-
In 1989 during the Loma-Prieta earthquake in SF. It was a 7.1. And I was in the worst place possible to be during an earthquake. -_-
-
Ohio gets a decent amount of earthquakes. Almost all are too deep and weak to even feel though. I\'ve never actually felt one and don\'t plan on it either.

Yeah we get em a lot up here. It\'s cause we\'re on that ring of fire thing.
The biggest earthquake I have ever been in was a 6.7, when I used to live in Northridge, California. I think that was the one in L.A. too, its right near there. It was crazy, stuff was falling everywhere and it split a bunch of houses. It was scary, but at the same time kinda cool. My neighborhood was ok, but places closer to the epicenter were thrashed.

i remember when i was 10 er so there was an big earthquake at about 7 oclock in the morning on a sunday, and all my family members were in doorways and they looked at me and i was still sleeping, lol. Then my brother hit me and told me to get up but it ended by the time i got outta bed

Quakes are pretty common around here, small ones atleast. Big ones well... they happen but not too often.
Last really big one was 3 or 4 years ago, brought some houses down and whatnot...happened on June the 17th, which is like the Icelantic version of the 4th of July.

4 Years ago a Earthquake hit someone in Pittsburg or something, and i felt that and 2 after shocks. It was creppy. You could hear it rumbling from like miles away. But it barely shook the ground at all.

YUO GUYS TEH SUK!!!!!111
I live on Guam and we have had many many many earthquakes. All your 4.+ earthquakes suck! Those are nothing. ;) The biggest I\'ve been in was an 8.2 which lasted for a good 60 seconds in 1993. Since then we\'ve had at least ten 6 and 7 pointers and numerous others below that. Good thing buildings here are designed with concrete, for protection against all these storms and earthquakes. :)
-
Yeah, according to SER I suck, but I don\'t care :p
A couple years ago, there was an earthquake here in the 4 range (we have smaller ones all the time). I heard what I thought was thunder, so I got up to look out of my window. I had a bunk bed that I was standing on to look out the window. I put my hands on boths sides of the window sill to support myselft cuz I wasn\'t awake at all. After a while I notice that the whole house was shaking. Freaky!

^^^^^ :)
4 pointers are nothing man. Once you get to the 7s, you\'ll be rockin! I\'m not sure but I remember something about every point it\'s 25 times stronger or something..
-
5 is ten times stronger than 4
6 is ten times stronger than 5
7 is ten times stronger than 6
and so on and so forth.

Yeah, yeah ;)
We don\'t get many above 4, or at all. We are a very active site for earthquakes, just most of them are 1s and 2s.

i ive in CA, and we get them a lot. the biggest on ive been in tho is probibly a 5 that was far away, non actually colse to my hose.
