Title: disc murmur
Post by: dimitris on January 27, 2003, 02:36:39 PM
my ps2 makes a continous sound like murmur when the CD is inserted but not used by the game (ex when pausing the game). It sounds like a buzzer at low volume...
Is that anything to worry about ?

I believe it is fairly normal for the ps2 to make some noise. Its a combination of the fan spinning and the drive spinning, although not necessarily reading the disc. As long as the game loads fine and there are no disc errors I wouldn\'t worry about it too much.

Its normal, if you listen to any stereo (turn the music ocompletely off) you can hear the disk spinning, its just the sound of it "slicing" thorought the air, like a helicopters of sorts.

Yeah...it\'s pretty scary, sometimes my PS2 gives all this weird sound when loading CD games like EggMania...dunno why. But DVD games seems to be pretty quiet.

It sucks playing The Sims... I can\'t stand that scratching, buzzing sound.
