Iceland Suffering Through Testicle Shortage

ICELAND (Wireless Flash) -- Here\'s food for thought: the Icelandic delicacy known as ram\'s testicles has become so popular that meat packers are suffering a shortage of the testy treats.

Nordlenska, a meat packing company in northern Iceland, says supplies are dangerously low and it\'s coming at a bad time: Iceland is currently celebrating a four-week long Viking festival known as "Thorria," when folks eat lots of testicles.

Nordlenska\'s assistant sales manager Gunnar Nielsson claims the testicles, also known as "minister\'s sausage," are rising in popularity because of a nostalgic return to foods that Icelanders\' grandparents ate.

He says even kindergarten students are nuts for the balls and enjoy pickling them in a salty brine and eating them with toothpicks.

Fried ram\'s testicles are also becoming a hit with Italian-Americans but Nielsson doesn\'t know if his company can keep up with the demand since, "rams only have two testicles."

When I read this, I was almost crying  it was so funny.  Then I read this one:

Are you serious??? is this for real?

Sounds like what people in the U.S. call mountain oysters.I think
those are from bulls though.

yeah, thankfully there\'s still enough sheep heads to go around. Sheep heads and ram testies.....yes some poeple around here eat\'em.

This is very much for real, right now it\'s þorri (not thorria) so things are very viking-ish here. People eat sour shark, sheep testicles and sheep heads (I mean raw HEADS, the eyes are concidered particularly good).

But rest assured it\'s not like every body eats it, I don\'t particularly like the taste of this stuff. But the funny thing is, on shows like Fear Factor and Survivor people almost cry when they think of those things...here it\'s a delicacy.

I say that to my wife all the time regarding Fear Factor.  Everything they eat on that show is eaten in some other country.  Although I personally can\'t see eating any of it, it\'s all in your head.
