Ya well that\'s unfair......can get gifts are you wont be able to play your best sport. Well....he\'ll just have to wait until he gets his offer from Duke or one of those big name college basketball schools.
Than he will go to the NBA and probally be amazing.
-
He is supposedly skipping college for the NBA.
The sad part about it to me is that his school is allowed to profit from him, yet he isnt allowed to profit.

I really don\'t see a problem with it. Once he starts making some profit, it\'s no longer amatuer ball. Also, schools are in DIRE need of money. Here for example, many sports are being threatened to be cut due to lack of funding, so I see nothing wrong with the school profiting.
-
I think people bitch entirely too much about high school and college athletes not being able to profit from their own skills. Hell, a college athlete gets a free college education. Considering what I\'ll be paying for mine, that\'s pretty damn good. And yeah, the schools need the money anyway.
Oh, and I agree with the decision 100%.
-
Yeah, it\'s a rule or something... And you\'re supposed to follow them and stuff like that. :nerd:

College?
Not only is he going straight to the NBA, but he is expected to be the first pick. That is truely amazing.
-
you beat me to it luckee! I saw it on the local news at 5:30. I dozed off and just got up........ He should have known not to take gifts......stupidity in my opinion........they were looking for a way to get him and they did....
the CAVS have the best chance of drafting him .....they are 9-37 and 9-38 after tonights game

The more I think of it, the more I think something is screwy.
They were very smart in getting that H2 through his mother and everything knowing full well and good that in a couple months that kid will have 40+ million in the bank. I find it hard to believe that he would take these jerseys as gifts. Unless of course it was presented as like a pseudo holiday gift. I dunno. Just sounds fishy.
-
he\'s still the number one draft for the NBA lets not forget...
-
he\'s already stated he wont play for the cavs because they fired john lucas... so right there that tells you he\'s a pompus ass.
secondly... he just barely got out of trouble LAST WEEK with that Hummer, youd think he lay low for a bit... so that tells you he\'s an idiot.
THIRDLY, AND MOST IMPRESSIVE... he is already set up with a 50 MILLION DOLLAR nike deal when he leaves high school, which is NEXT FRICKIN MONTH!
so your tellin me he couldnt wait one frickin month to have his 50 million then get the jerseys?
and you KNOW hes got some lawer up his ass 24/7 TELLING him what he can and cant do... he knew not to take those jerseys, he knew he was gonna be a multi-millionare in less than 2 months, and he did it anyway.
in my book that all adds up to a 100% grade A moron.
p.s. ive been listening to sports radio all night, and its all they were talking about.
-
Well, I don\'t know that it was that horrible. First of all, with the hummer thing, he didn\'t just accept the jerseys just now. He took them a week ago. Also, many people familiar with the system say that if it were any other player they wouldn\'t have pursued it. Because it was James and he was fresh off the Hummer thing, in which you just know they wanted to convict him, he very well may have been targetted.
As for the Lucas thing, LeBron may not have even said that. A source reported it, but LeBron has never been documented saying it. I don\'t know that I\'d trust that just yet.
Another interesting fact for all you talking about LeBron and college ball, James has already lost his NCAA elegibility many times over. Even if he wanted to, he couldn\'t play college basketball.
-
What the Kings need to do is trade off Hedo and Bobby Jackson and try to get the first pick.... Then I would have an orgasm
-
Nah. The Kings need to win an NBA championship, not worry about highschool players. The Knicks need to stop winning, and get lucky in the lottery. Of course, then they would have 3 starting quality shooting guards...
Anyone want Spree? Anyone?
-
im a bulls fan and even i dont want spree.
ill take lebron though:)

Which is all the more reason that something isnt right to me. They obviously wanted to get him for something or another b/c if they would have investigated more, they would have found out the truth b4 attempting to drag his name through the mud in the hummer thing.
Either way, its funny how they think they are hurting him when he really only cares about the NBA anyway.
I still find it funny that its ok for a school to profit off of him, yet he cant take advantage of the same.
-
know what i just realized?
jerseys are STUPID expensive.
400 bucks for a frickin jersey? sweet lord almighty!
-
blame the rappers. throwbacks used to be reasonably priced. Just slightly higher than your average jersey. Price depending on hoq great an athlete was.
-
god damn nelly.
*shakes fist*
-
/me kicks Nelly in the nuts, and goes to Tiijuana to buy a knock-off throw back jersey
-
actually, I think N.O.R.E. started it and nelly was just one of many that jumped the badnwagon.
-
well I\'m still gonna kick Nelly in the nuts for that supid band-aide on his face, if for nothing else.
-
while it does look stupid, it actually means something. Im sure you have something that means something to you that others would think is utterly retarded.
keep in mind I cant stand this no talent hack. and by no talent, I mean lyrically, business wise and as an entertainer, he is a genius.

Next month...nooooo more like around late may-early june...unless he is quitting before he gets his diploma. Most if not all Ohio school systems get out around late May or early June.

And that makes him a pompus ass, like Luke said. His team has a chance of going to state and stuff (IIRC), but he doesn\'t care about them.
-
It doesnt make someone pompous b/c they dont care about their teammates.
It makes him selfish

Ok, take out pompus. He\'s still an ass.
-
Hey I thought his mom gave him the hummer.....
:D
Hah He got a hummer from his mom.. thats sick man
I think really that they are way over board with this all the gift givening and stuff has been going on for years so what he will be worth millions in no time and just buy it himself.
-
i think the hummer thing was that his mom bought it for him, and told the dealer that they would pay for it once lebron got the money. Thats why he got in trouble for the jerseys and not the hummer.
-
They say he\'s actually a good kid so its weird to hear all of you call him an asshole and what not.
-
If any of you think James is innocent on the Hummer deal, then think again. His mother bought the vehicle from 310 Motoring in Los Angeles, the famous SUV bling shop used by rappers and Lakers players. Now explain to me how she closed a deal for that Hummer from Ohio, then had it transported and registered in another state without some assistance from an intermediary.
I\'d also like to see her tax return from last year, and I\'d like someone to explain to how a dealership would approve a loan of $80,000 for a person of her income and credit rating. I\'m making an assumption here, but even if her income and credit are equal to mine, she wouldn\'t qualify for such a loan. There\'s no way 310 would close that deal without some kind of guarantee, probably signed and in writing, from a third party that the CIZASH would be coming through in just a few short months. No matter how well known he is, I doubt they would take the risk without someone else guaranteeing the loan.
What a sacrifice it would have been for this guy to do without the Hummer and jerseys, and all the other free stuff for another few more months.
-
I find it funny that he has 2 cell phones and a pager, yet he doesn\'t have a job and neither does his mom.
As for him not caring about his team, he really wants to win another state title, they lost last year and he wants to go out on top, according to ESPN anyway. Plus his teammates are his best friends.
-
He still went to the game with the team and sat with them during the game 2 nights ago.
Anywho..i still think its bullshit how he is able to be exploited for his talents but yet he\'s not allowed to take advantage of those same skills.
-
luck what your describing is a proffesional, he cant be a proffesional basketball player and play in high school... thats all that happnened.
he got something of monetary value in return for his basketball playing... making him no longer an amateur, and no longer able to play in high school.
the dude is gonna be filthy, stupid rich very soon... dont worry about that.
-
I accepted a gift from my mom one time for winning a tennis tournament, to think all those years I was ineligble and they never found out, haha I showed them.
Rules suck sometimes, if any of you were in his shoes you\'d be seeing it from a different light.
-
Looks like he is reinstated after a 2 game suspension.
