I saw that the other day.  Those bastards.  Let the little guy have some action!!!

I never realized there were so many of these little rodent weathermen.

Some say the Groundhog Day tradition is rooted in a German superstition that if an animal casts a shadow Feb. 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, bad weather is coming.

Others trace Groundhog Day to the ancient Celtic festival Imbolg, the midpoint between the winter solstice and spring equinox.

The Celts believed that if the day was fair, the second part of the winter would be stormy; but if it was cloudy, the rest of the winter would be mild.
