Maybe keep it quote of the day, but put all the quotes in the same topic.  That would seem better to me.  You could just make each new quote in bold, to stand out.

I don\'t care.  They fall off the front page after a day or two anyway.  It\'s the same as having one thread.

Gotta go give the log a bubble bath.  Damn it was nice back when the only thing you had to worry about was if the bubbles were going to wear off soon.

i enjoy the quotes, I just feel the idea of using one thread makes more sense...  anyway...
