This is getting ridiculous... 1.78 my last fill up. What freaking gives? I just read this little report blasting the price gouging that is happening right now.
___________________________________________
ORLANDO, Fla. - The American Automobile Association, the biggest US motorist organization, said a recent jump in gasoline prices isn\'t justified and that makers of the fuel may be \'\'close to\'\' gouging consumers.
US pump prices for regular gasoline averaged $1.61 a gallon as of Monday, up 10 cents from a week earlier and the highest since June 2001, the group said in a release. The price was the highest the AAA has recorded for the month of February.
\'\'There is no shortage of gasoline, there is no shortage of crude,\'\' AAA spokesman Geoff Sundstrom said. \'\'I think we\'re getting very close to\'\' price gouging, he said.
The average price was up 9.1 percent from $1.47 a month ago and up 43 percent from $1.13 a year ago, according to AAA data, which is based on surveys of more than 60,000 filling stations.
Prices for oil and gasoline have surged over the past two months as tensions have increased in the Middle East and a strike in Venezuela hobbled that nation\'s petroleum industry, slashing exports from the fourth-largest supplier of crude to the United States.
This story ran on page C2 of the Boston Globe on 2/12/2003.

you think that\'s bad
us Brits pay about 76p per litre.
and thats expected to rise to 90p per litre.
:(
-
You losers and your pounds and liters. Freaking transfer the figures to gallons and dollars.

Well hell I can get from one end of that island to the other on a full tank of gas ooseven ;)

I believe my last purchase of 91 octane (the highest we can buy in California :() was $1.94 or thereabouts. My fuel log spreadsheet is on my home PC, so I can\'t check it right now.

Booo ;)
lets just say if you want to travel from the North of Scotland
to the South of England.. you got to have a lot of money spent on fuel. :(
anyway how many Litres are there to a gallon anyway...
i want to feal even more depressed :(

no clue. All I know is I wish my car didn\'t take 93 octane now. I\'d much rather put 87 in it. I\'d save like 3.50 a fill up.

I hear ya vid, the VR6 needs it too... though I can always leave it at home if things get bad and steal my wife\'s Vibe GT that gets really good gas mileage.
-
I still have my POS Nissan Altima sitting in my driveway, but that is tough to drive now that I\'ve been spoiled.
-
Last time I filled up it was around 1.79. I guess I just hope that this will get some of the darn SUV’s off the road. There is nothing worse than an SUV owner that feels as though he owns the road.

i have just done the MATH
a Gallon is 3.78 Liters
so 1.78 per Gallon
works out to be
$0.59 per Litre
that means you pay
£0.36 per litre
and your Moaning at this ?
£0.36 per litre....do you realise that us Brits would KILL for that insted of £0.79 per litre.
:(

I only started it with this car. I wanted to monitor my fuel efficiency, but that\'s proving to be rather frustrating with the S2000. If I drive it like a granny and always shift at under 4000 rpms, I can squeak out around 28 mpg. If I VTEC it alot and shift around 8500-9000 rpms, the mileage drops to 16-19 mpg or worse! It\'s like owning two different cars. :nut:

Definitely a cool idea, though I don\'t have the patience for it. I have the same problem with my Jetta... if I drive really cautiously then I get around 25-29 mpg, but if I drive aggressively then it drops to 14-19 mpg. It has one of those onboard computers which give my mpg - though I don\'t think its terribly accurate.
-
I am at 23.7 mpg. It\'s been there for a couple weeks so I don\'t see it going up or down much. I was at 24 for a while though. I still hammer the thing all the time. I need to take it easy.
-
Everything I have been doing to my car, for the sake of performance, has reduced my mpg.
One of the Shell stations near me is selling premium for $1.99 per gallon.
It\'s only going to get worse with the usual seasonal rise in prices and the impending war.

I think we need the fuel protests again to stop us from being ripped of. Did you know that for fuel in the UK 77p out of the pound is tax?
-
Its the same way here in the US Kurt. Most of the price per gallon goes to taxes.
-
$1.89 for 93 and rising :( I HAVE to have 93 or higher too :(
-
$1.39
-

I haven\'t filled it in a week, but last week I could have swore it read only a 1.39.
