Read above.
Send it to Sony or what?
-
Ask the price. And if it is "affordable" to send it to Sony to get it fixed then yes send it
-
ok thanks
-
how long u had it?? u tried to use a cd lens cleaner on it??
-
Open it up and clean the dust off the lens. Then it\'ll work fine.
-
Alright, thanks. I\'ll try that tonight.
-
U mean it can\'t read CD or DVD or both?

Well it should work. My PS2 was starting to have plenty of trouble. I merely opened it up and cleaned it, and voila! It worked.
You\'d be surprised how much dust there is in it.
-
you know mine reads the disks but, it goes to the browser first and then the game kicks in.. imagine O gotta clean it more then the lens
-
That\'s what mine did. Eventually it started having trouble reading the disks at all.
-
Yeah...mine is reading a lot slower than is used to, and I\'ve had it for 3 years without any problems yet. I went to buy a laser lens cleaner...but the PS2 couldn\'t read the disc... Pretty lame. I guess it didn\'t recognize the format of the CD so it couldn\'t read the track with the cleaner head on it.
I think I\'ll try cleaning the lens myself since my stupid warranty expired ages ago. Anyway, good luck with fixing your PS2.
-
Your best bet is probably Sony... see if any local places do repairs, compare prices, and your set.
-
Yea, I got it fixed. Just in case, what other stores will fix your PS2?
-
When my GC broke, they\'re were local certified dealers. It was like EasyWay Electronics, not a franchise, just a local store.
-
You cleaned it, and it works?
Or you took it to a repair store, and it works?
:sconf:
-
Long time ago my playstation stopped reading cd\'s too.
so I took it to a sony reparation shop.
after complaining like a bastard on a poor girl, she called a japanese guy who came and cleaned up the lens with a special liquid...
he actually told me how to make that liquid out of alcohol and something else I dont remember...
that didnt solve the problem since the lens problem the first psx\'s had was about calibration.
I hope I\'m not gonna have the same trouble with the ps2.

How exactly did you do it?
any precautions you took?
-
I used my finger...

BOOYEAH!!!
:)
-
I would never touch the insides of my PS2, I\'ll leave that stuff for the pros.
-
I vacuumed the fan and front vents and cleaned it with a CD cleaner, still it wants to go to the browser then the game kicks in.. ugh...
