That was pretty fun. We\'ve had a dyno for a couple years, but we just got a new one in and are testing it. First time I\'ve ever driven on one.
I got up to 125 in my car. Pretty weird going that fast standing still.
My HP was 198 which I thought was pretty good since the engine is rated at 225. That is hardly any loss at all.
My 1/4 mile was 15 seconds, but that\'s not what the car is built to do so no biggie.
This dyno is really cool. You can put a load the wheels so you can do all kinds of tests. You can actually floor your car and it will keep it at whatever speed you want. Pretty cool.
Well, now we have a 2003 Mustang GT SVT on the thing. I have a feeling he is going to beat my ass. hehhehhehh.

An 03 Cobra should put down at least 350 or better. Some of the Cobra owners on a board I visit are saying about 390 at the wheels.

My other ’91 Camaro that I had a ’65 Chevy 327 swapped in it was dyno’d at 408 hp. They said I could run low 13’s and would pull like a mule.
-
Please post your dyno plot if you can. I would like to see what a BMW 3 series torque curve looks like. :)
-
I can. I\'ll have to bring a disc in. THat computer isn\'t hooked up to the network.
I suck at doing it though. Problem I had was I tried to keep it in 4th gear from 40mph all the way to 120mph.
Problem is that at 40 when you hit it the car really wants to drop it into 2nd gear. So I couldn\'t slam the gas pedal down.
I was mainly impressed with how efficient the car was with the power.
And people, this is a true to life dyno. This takes into account the cars weight, the car\'s aerodynamics and everything. It\'s not like an inertia dyno where your 3200 pound car is all of the sudden only pushing 2000 pounds. This thing has power absobers that makes that drum weigh 3200 pounds so you get a true to life HP.
The cobra got a little over 390. Did the quarter mile I think in a little over 12 seconds. The supercharger sounded awesome on the thing.
Actually I have oone of my runs on a print out. It was a messed up run and I only got 191 on it, but I can scan that thing. Let me go get it out of my car.

I want a Cobra damn it!

I screwed up in this one and didn\'t have the pedal all the way down. Then the dyno cut me off at 90mph. This was when I tried to do it in 3rd gear. I really suck. I should have had my buddy who does most of our dyno work drive the thing.
I\'ll post my 4th gear one tomorrow when I go to work. I don\'t have it printed out. That\'s the one where I was at 198.

Here is the quarter mile. I screwed up in this one too and let off the pedal at the 400 mark. I thought that was it. I\'m a doofus. I doubt if it would have made much of a difference though. Just a little bit of time would have been trimmed off.
This is with the car in automatic shifting.

Why is it showing no power/torque from 0 - 2500 rpms?
-
Because it probably was only measuring speed from a certain range.
And what is graphed is the RPMs rather than the speed.

I don\'t understand this. Did you actually do a quarter mile run at a track, or is this somehow calculated off the dyno? Where\'s your 0-60 time?
-
I run a 100 yards in less than twice the time your car does!
-
guy. layt off the brad pitt and yo could be faster... i could run faster than that.

Some dyno\'s can guesstimate how fast the car could run, but without taking into account; the weather, track conditions, and driver.
-
This dyno has been tested with actual drivers on both it and the track and it is dead on nuts. Weather conditions are inputed. The only variable that would not be taken into account is track conditions since you obviously have a drum that won\'t change.
Never did a 0-60. I guess you could figure it out from looking at the 1/4 mile graph. It would probably be at the top end of 6 seconds or right at 7 though.
Also the other variable that isn\'t taken into account is there is no christmas tree. It just starts recording the moment your wheel begins to move.

videoholic,
Is the Cobra going to be on the show? If there is a date that it\'s going to be on, can you let us (me) know?
Thanks!

No intentions as of yet. We are going back into reruns next week so there will be no new shows for 13 weeks. I\'m actually producing 4 shows next week. We are upgrading the tranny on a Grand National. We were testing the old tranny on the dyno yesterday to figure out the shift points. Sure enough we blew the turbo. Ugh. We are on a mad scramble now to get the engine fixed for the new tranny.
