Yay, look something other than Iraq, North Korea, French people, war.... etc
(AP) - Napster, the pioneering online music service, is getting another lease on life with the launch by year\'s end of a legal, subscription-based music business, its new owners said Monday. Roxio Inc., which bought Napster\'s name and intellectual property for $5 million at a November bankruptcy sale, said it is in discussions with the five major music labels to provide content for the online service.

I smell *FLOP*! Who needs this when we all have Kazaa?

a day late and a dollar short.
-
FINE! DON\'T BLAME ME FOR NOT TRYING!!!!!!
j/k ;)

I think he\'s talking about Napster, not your posting efforts.
-
I knew that, really, I did. :nerd:
-
too bad I already have Kazaa
-
bah, kazaa
don\'t you just love getting mislabeled, poorly recorded, and flat out corrupted files?
i would gladly pay a nominal fee to be able to acquire premium content quickly
you should be ashamed if you wouldnt
-
i don\'t have those problems
-
well, i guess when yer a "super user" those problems are rare
-
The problem is that the RIAA\'s definition of "nominal fee" and any sane, rational human\'s definition are two different things. They don\'t mind selling you the MP3 at some absurd price, but even then it has to have some technology built in that prevents you from copying it... basically prevents you from taking advantage of the main thing that\'s made mp3s so useful. The ability to move it to other storage mediums, move it to a CDR you can play in your car, move it to you portable mp3 walkman... etc etc. The record companies still don\'t get it.
I can\'t wait to see what the "new" Napster\'s pricing structure will be. It will probably be a disaster.

Never have I once got a corrupt file.
I love kazaa.
-
I hate to say this but Copying muic has been around since you could listen and record music from a radio...I\'ll admit to doing it! were they Whining about it then.....nooooooooo....... do I have a point....YES!
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:

Problem with these fee based programs are that only certain record labels will be on them. So, you really won\'t be able to get the songs you want, which sucks. :crap:

Ausio galaxy was the best.. I wonder why kazaa people dont share as many files as they used to do on audio galaxy...
-
the porn on kazaa is full of viruses.... not that I would know or anything..... *whistles nonchalantly....

Not too sure about corrupted files but I have gotten many poorly encoded mp3s. If Napster will supply 192kbps+ mp3s made with a great codec I am more than willing to pay a monthly fee to use it. Then I\'ll have a chance to tell those "mp3s are the devil" goons (just about every college IT professor) to stop whining.
Plus it\'s nice to know artists are getting some compensation for their single works. Not a whole $17 album which only has 2-3 songs I want.
But if the service costs more than $15 monthly I\'ll stick with Kazaa.

Im a Supreme Being (1000 points or whatever) on KaZaA, how about you? ;)
mm: Get KaZaA Lite with DATView so you can preview the files before you fully download them.
-
How do you check your points? Is that only in version 2.x?
Personally I uninstalled that one and went back to 1.7. It uses less CPU cycles and is just faster overall. I saw no real advantage in 2.x especially since it seemed to take over my processor when I was gaming.
-
I\'m running Kazaa Lite, don\'t want to download the new one it keeps asking me to, because it works perfectly fine as it is now.
-
if you want the quality rips go onto mIRC or download the files off KaZaa that were ripped by an mp3 "team" like CSR or IDX.
-
I\'ve got kazaa lite running 24/7 and never had a problem, I\'ve downloaded about 30GB in the last few weeks and not one problem.
-
yep, I\'d like to add that I also run Kazaa Lite, not Kazaa, but in essence its the same program but safer for your system.
-
I don\'t know why but in kazaa, sometimes, files are totally corrupted with a sound in the middle of the song...
