Big is the controversy in Spain after Aznar decided to help USA in this conflict. Only Britain and Spain are decided to attack Iraq. In Europe that wasn\'t a good choice... but how do you see Spain and Britain after this position? Has the opinion changed in the USA society?
-
if i may speak for US society
"we dont care one way or another if any other country helps us"
-
Yes mm, I was expecting replies like that.
-
but thats the US public opinion
as a whole, they are elitests
-
". . . they are elitests"
What country do you live in?

I\'m not being funny but I didn\'t realise you were a yank anyway. For some reason I though you were from one of the scandanavian countries............. No idea why.
-
perhaps it was my ultra liberal views
-
Britain is just our little brother that wants to be like us so bad so they go along with whatever we do.
Brits, dont take that as any sort of insult as it isnt.
Spain, not really sure what to think.

I view Spain and Britain as countries that are forward thinking and their leaders have learned from history and the mistakes that were made regarding other dictators in the past century.
The policy of containment and appeasement doesn\'t and has never worked.

us Brit\'s Want to be like our Sexy American Friends.... But we also want to keep our OLD British Traditions Alive.
So were a confused people.
This even extends to politics were the country is so divided over action in Iraq.
As i am sure you often say....
"here come them Crazy Brit’s"
Speaking of which ;)

Adan, whats your position on the war? I really don\'t care if another country supports us.
-
You should care about the support of other nations as that affects future relations and possible wars.
-
True luckee. I forgot about that.

Sincerely Titan? Well I\'m with USA. My points in favour to support Bush are:
1) Saddam is actually hiding prohibited weapons. He\'s lying to UN everyday.
2) UN has referred many times to the weapon destruction and Saddam has not offered any consistent material evidence.
3) USA and Britain are important countries with very prominent roles in the world. If we help USA, we could receive help from USA, and not only ecomical.
4) Terrorism is one of the main problems in West Society. We\'ve important terrorist groups in Spain, and I do know what\'s it. Every effort to erase it is welcomed, and all we know that Saddam supports al-qaeda.
5) Iraq\'s population is under the hand of a dictator who is killing the country\'s people of starvation.
6) Saddam is a problem himself due to his mind and politics conception. He\'s very close to Hitler or Mussolini (Notice Kurds holocaust). If he escapes to other country, the problem will be on.
7) Any country that dares to defy UN authority and resolutions deserves an attack, and I include here North Korea.
8) War is a very bad matter. For the country and for the innocent people. But I think Iraq will reborn (economically, politically and socially) after the fall of Saddam.
-
Britain = ally since WWI, trusted. Same situation as US economy.
Spain = I feel they are a neutral country, not really on the world stage at the moment.
-
I\'m not sure what to think of Spain right now.
It\'s just kind of ironic that we\'re learning about the Spanish-American war right now (in US history) while Spain is supporting us in this war.
-
Of course The Hurricane, Spain is not an influent nor important country in the world, and never will. It lacks of power.
One day we were the lord of the world...

1. probable for some and also true for others.
2. b/c he wants to keep them and thinks he can hide a few under the rug.
4. He doesnt directly support al-queada. in fact, no one has proven a link between him and al-queada. he supports the families of suicide bombers.
5. As sad as it is, that is a problem of the Iraqi ppl. They can ask for help if it is needed like kuwait did.
8. Like Isreal?
9. I think they will after soemtime, but it wont help the US in terms of relations as they will dislike our hands in their governing. IE..dummy government.

It\'s the duty of powerful nations to avoid people\'s suffering due to a monster. USA hadn\'t nothing to do with Nazis and Jews. And what? That means that USA was not ethically forced to help Europe? If USA hadn\'t helped, I cannot think in the nowadays Europe. Free countries have the duty to join the alliance and save those places which have not the luck of living in freedom. In we don\'t help each other, who will do?
-
We didnt do anything untill we were attacked by japan.
-
Yep but you could have attacked Japan, destroy the country and reduce to dust its population. But you also helped Europe. Remember that Normandy is one of the greatest moments in the history. You knew Europe couldn\'t bear any more.

I wonder how long the US government would have allowed Germany to run those camps and kill all of those innocent ppl had Japan never bombed Pearl Harbor.
