This is right down the street from my house. Dropping a 10th is kind of funny, but there is still a station a couple blocks away at 1.81 9/10ths. So they can take their one tenth and shove it in their butts.
Anyone know when and where 9/10ths started?

I don\'t even notice the fractions after. I just give them my money.

I\'m moving to TB, gas here in cali is 2.10 a gallon for premium (which is all I can buy....damn turbo)

More like $2.27 or more for 91 octane in LA. No reason for it. Damn cheap ass hustlers.

I\'m buying a horse....and a penguin

The fraction is the amount of money the gas station makes as profits for every gallon sold. It\'s been that way for years. I saw a show on this a couple years ago and as with most people, I believe what I see on television...;)

Here\'s a discussion at another forum about the prices:
The sign says $1.399 per gallon, so you by one gallon. You can\'t pay less than a cent, so you have to pay $1.40. Buy 9 gallons, they\'re making an extra .9¢. They\'re technically charging you more than the advertised price, so they get "free" money in some cases. Now, if you bought 10 gallons, it would be $13.99, and you are getting the exact price advertised, so everthing is kosher.
They\'re selling a liquid product down to the thousandth of a gallon, so those fractional cents let them keep actual product in their inventory.
Thought that was interesting.

is this a good thing or bad thing?
