Behehe, one day I was playing music on my laptop. It just so happens I was working on an assignment too. I hit compile and all hell broke loose!@#$%- I haven\'t listened to your MP3, but maybe your poota is a little old. My laptop is a 366MHz Celery.

I had a similar problem with my sound and windows 2000.  I don\'t know how I fixed it, though.  It just kind of went away on it\'s own one day after a reformat.

Upgrade your sound card drivers if you haven\'t already, and go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and get all the upgrades for your OS.

Try doing a search on http://www.computing.net too.  Their forum has a ton of suggestions from people.

That\'s all I can really recommend.

Defrag your hd,
get updated sound drivers
Update mb drivers
update windows. Get whatever service packs are out.

If all fails try ripping out your card and trying it in a different PCI slot.
