Coniferous forests around the world may be emitting more smog-causing nitrogen oxides than traffic and industry combined, suggests a report in the prestigious journal Nature...........................

That\'s pretty interesting that it is coming from an organization that promotes trees. You\'d think this would come from the prestigious journal of industry.

F*ck trees, More SUV\'s!!!!!!
-
Yeah ... Who need\'s Oxygen anyway
a 2 SUV\'s in every Drive way and everyone to have more than double the fatal amount of Hexavlent Chromium in ever person.
Roll on the 6th extinction
-
Yeah! now you\'re talking!
Go Hexavlent Chromium!!!!!
/me ignores ooseven\'s obvious sarcasm....
-
Well it has actually been proven that when a forest is clear cut and new trees are planted, the sum of all the oxygen given off by the new, young trees is greater than that of the old trees.
Let the clear cutting commence!

Tree huggers must be feeling stupid now. Either that or protesting saying thats not true :)

SHUT UP ! you don\'t know what your talking about ! :( ;)
I Majored in the Environment.
yes new tree\'s provide more oxygen.
but thats counterd by the release of Carbon into the Atmosphere when you burn or use the trees.
also you lose soil structure and have an increase of surface subsidence when you up root old tree\'s or even whole forests.
The moral of the Story...
Don\'t F%CK WITH TREE\'S
Remember what Treebeard did when they PISSED HIM OFF !
& oh yeah Titan... i got a picture for you !

Former U.S. president Ronald Reagan caused an uproar in 1980 when he said trees cause just as much pollution as cars.
And you all thought he was an idiot. Ha! I knew he had some smarts to him...at least when he was an actor anyway.
-
he probably wouldn\'t remember saying that.

When the old trees are used to build homes or something like that.. and ARE NOT burned... do they release carbon into the atmosphere?

Dose anyone read my posts :crying:... i already highlited this ;)
no but then you have the problem of soil containment if enough tree\'s are cleared from a section of land.
Tree cultivation = :D (but even in area\'s with a sensible system can still face the problems highlighted below.
Wide spread clearence = :( (it leads to land Subsidence , increase in silt in local streams and rivers Along with loss of Bio Diversity )

This is one of those things that always chaps my hide. When people say that we humans are destroying the rain forests or the trees are in danger of extinction because of the humans! Oh NOOOOO! Give me a friggin break!!!111
Simple tid-bit of knowledge for ya all:
The entire population of the planet earth could fit in the city limits of Jacksonville Florida. Ah, but I’m sure that by the time I am long gone from this Earth, the trees will be quite safe from extinction. Heck, that’s why we have these friggin environmentalists around right?
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest here.
