Title: Another great quote from a Frenchman - AKA France blows
Post by: videoholic on March 18, 2003, 08:55:56 AM
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/03/18/sprj.irq.france.chemicals/index.html

Not Chirac this time, but Levitte....

"If the war starts and if (President) Saddam Hussein uses chemical or biological weapons, it would change completely the situation for the French president and for the French government, and President (Jacques) Chirac will have to decide what we will do to help the American troops to confront this new situation.

"But I confirm it would change completely the perception and the situation for us," said Jean-David Levitte, who told CNN he hoped that biological and chemical weapons would not be used.

_____________

I thought they didn\'t have chemical or biological weapons.

I think what he means is,  if Sadam has those types of weapons, then the French will help out.  They just don\'t have proof (beyond reasonable doubt) yet.

I feel bad for the French people.  It\'s not their choice, but the choice of their leaders.  However, we Americans protest by not calling "French Fries" by their name.

To me, that is the "American" thing to do because it takes no effort and we can still eat whatever the hell we want.

If we really feel so strongly against the French people why dont we break down the Statue of Liberty and give it back to them.

America is not the King of the World.  France can choose not to fight if they want.

The press secretary is having a briefing right now and he was asked if the US would like for France to help out in the event of this happening.  He didn\'t say yes I can tell you that.  He side stepped the question big time.

I think our government is looking down at France quite a bit more than they are letting on.

And no one is asking France to fight.  We are asking France to get out of the back pockets of Iraq and stand up against terrorism.  They don\'t have to fight.  They just have to NOT condemn us for protecting our freedoms.

I dont get it, just because France doesnt want to fight- they have suddenly become a laughing matter?

I find it almost sickening with anything to do with war funny. Violence or not, it shouldnt be something to laugh at. Or even condemned against. (is that proper grammar)

again, it has nothing to do with them not wanting to fight.  No one has asked them to fight.

The country is ridiculous.  They have huge alterior motives.  From selling Iraq military supplies to their exploratory rights for drilling oil in IRaq, the UN vote from france is a joke.

I believe America has asked for their alliance in the war with Saddam on many occasions, all denied.

But my question is this: why is this so funny? I dont see how anything to do with a war can make you laugh.

"Going to war without the French is like going hunting without an accordian"

I don\'t remember who said it; but it is very funny.

It was originally spoken by Jeb Babbin, and it took off from there. Heard it first on KSFO morning show, a right-wing conservative (and proud of it) radio station. ;)

Can you find a single instance where we have asked the French for military assistance in this war?  Other than the british, and neighboring countries to Iraq, can you find an instance where we have asked anyone for assistance in this war?

The reason it is so freaking funny is because they are totally 100% against this war because they say there is not substantial proof that the Iraqi military has chemical and biological weapons.  They have no interest in getting rid of any of Saddam\'s weapons because they have vested interest in Saddam staying in power.

Our military has intercepted conversations stating that agents have been dispersed to their field for use agains tour military and now all of the sudden France says they will help if they end up getting used.

That is playing both sides of the fence.  Absolutely ridiculous.  If Iraq has these weapons then why would they veto a new resolution?  France is friggen joke and I am so glad Fleisher didn\'t say we would welcome France\'s help in the press conference.

Here is a quote from a story as to why France is a complete joke for threatening to Veto ANY resolution with threat of war.

"Artillery shells with chemical warheads were being handed out to troops of Saddam’s elite Republican Guard at Al Kut, southeast of Baghdad, the reports indicated, while preparations were under way to coat bridges and roadways with a lethal VX nerve agent to slow U.S. troops on their advance to Baghdad.

U.S. intelligence reports also indicated that Saddam had as many as 50 unmanned drones he could use to attack U.S. troops with chemical weapons from the air"

OR maybe France doesn\'t like to kiss ass. MAYBE they like to trust people and believe that there are other ways instead of war. MAYBE they do feel strongly about the freedom of those people, but they know war will not help their situation.

If there are any assholes right know are those people that think France blows. I hate the bastards that get pissy because they can\'t get it their way. They\'re too conceited. Too proud. Too ignorant.

Like when France threatened to veto a compromise by the UK before Iraq even had a chance to review it?

The French have been a laughing matter long before this all began.

It\'s now barried down at the bottom of the story because they keep updating this story, but it\'s down a couple headings where it says INSIDE IRAQ.
