RAF Tornado downed by US missile

It is thought a Patriot missile hit the plane
An RAF Tornado and its crew are missing after being downed by a US Patriot missile close to the Kuwaiti border.
A search for survivors is under way, as is an investigation into how the accident happened.

Air Marshal Brian Burridge, commander of British troops in the Gulf, said the Tornado had been hit "obviously by mistake" as it returned from a mission over Iraq.

Of course there will be. You almost sound like we did it on purpose. It\'s on American news as well.

This happend in the last conflict 12 years ago. We shot at or down a british plane and a canadien something or another. I dont remember all that well about the canadien craft..but I do know there were some friendly fire issues with the british then as well.

Our technology isn\'t perfect, nor are the soldiers. Mistakes happen.

FF happens in every war... its not been until the Gulf War that it was highly publicized.  It seems the media is documenting every casualty - even that car wreck in Kuwait.

Or grave..

I find it weird that he has not appeared on TV yet to "boost" the morale.

Since they are already playing "Saddam rulez" type of music on the radio and showing Saddam’s face on the TV, it would not hurt (from his perspective) if he talked to the people.

I think he\'s badly injured or already dead.
Or maybe he shit his pants after the first attack and fled?

I\'ve seen the comparison pictures of him in the newspaper. You can see a few differences, also that he wears a beret and glasses are clever ways of trying to cover him up.

I agree with Giga. Friendly fire happens in every war, but it hasn\'t been until lately that the media is noting every death. Then again, none of these wars have been on the scale of the greater wars...The ones where so many people died..and was faceless.

Or maybe it\'s just technlogy and the ability to track and air the wars even more close.

hmmm now saw a report saying the confusion could of been due to that U.S. Marine from the 101st throwing them grenade(s) into the tents.

they said that the base was on alert and could of resulted in a breakdown in communication on the ground.

Yeah, I was shocked to see this happen, but its just one of the few kinks that comes with warfare with allies. I\'m sure British forces will disappoint as well.

[Bloody hell ooseven, your grammar is seriously horrendous]

Yep killing two I think..

Also is it true that Americans yet again fired on their own? Artillery fire this time injuring 37 people.

Hmm, not good!
