So who\'s watching/watched it and what do/did you think of it? Man some guy who was involved with Bowline For Columbine just made everyone expectations came true. He was screaming "We\'re against the war and against you Bush". Classic moment. A lot of people were booing at the same time.
Anyways, shame on them for not giving Walken another one.
-
I agree about walken, did you see him on SNL saturday night???? he was Hilarious! I cant remember if that was a repeat tho....
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:
-
Yes, that was really the only good SNL show in ages it seems. He probably wasn\'t even that funny, I just love the guy so much. Still think he really should of won.
-
Nicole better win.
-
She did. That guy from the Pianist had the best speech ever.
-
She deserved it, her performance was fantastic.
-
Bah IMO oscars are overrated, its all a popularity contest.
still it matters to some people :D
-
yeah, people who understand just how hard acting is. Sure, they get sh!tloads of money, but it takes alot of hard work, and enormous amounts of energy to portray a convincing role.
-
****, Chicago actually beat The Pianist and Gangs Of New York. It\'s official. Oscars suck.
-
The Pianst wouldn\'t have won, that was obvious, not with the war. It does suck, it was a profoundly amazing movie.
-
The outcomes were quite obvious - save a few surprises.
I also like Walken - he has this strange odd-guy quality to him.

And the oscar for most sensible thing said in 2003 goes to him for that statememnt.
It\'s just an excuse for all the luvvie luvvies to get dressed up and congregate together and either congratulate each other for some flick they did, or pretend to be happy that someone else beat them whilst secretly being a bitter sore loser.
Oh, and another thing that knocks me off watching it, the obligatory "see who can cry their eyes out in the most shallow and pathetic way" speech..........Who was it this year???
-
Wow, Im suprised people agreed with me..
Acting may seem hard, but they just want you to think that. Earning millions for just memorizing a few lines, and spewing them out, whilst trying to look good, must reallly hard. Yeah, terrible.

ok... you went too far.
It does take a lot of skill to act.
You ever watch one of those infomericals or a bad movie and you can just tell that the acting is terrible and it gets to the point where you can not stand it?
Well when you watch a good movie with good actors you dont even notice they are acting. You lose yourlself in the the movie and the characters. You feel like you are really there experiencing what the movie has to offer.
Try getting a video camera and recording a scene of you acting something... prepare to laugh at yourself.

I believe what I believe.
Acting is lies. if you put it into simple terms. Its a person literally "lying who they are", but not in a negative way.
The way I see it its like that. How hard can it be to lie, and make someone believe? Its not that hard, keep a straight face and your done.
They whine about everything too, "oh god, I look so fat", or "oh god, I need my cocaine and strippers", shit like that. Dont tell me that actors are perfect people, their are so many actors out their that are literally dumbasses its not even funny. What you see of them is them lying, not them themselves.
All it takes is to be able to use ur imagination, now taking you have one, acting cant be that bad.
-
Spudz, you need a life.
-
yeah man, being a good actor is really really hard and takes talent and years of practice.
there is a big FAT difference between the art of acting and most of the shit you see on tv everyday.
-
EXACTLY
I\'ve studied acting for the past 3 years and it is tough. Theatre is even tougher.
If you want to see some good acting;
Tom Hank - Philidelphia, Forrest Gump
Nicole Kidman - The Others, The Hours
Jodie Foster - Silence Of The Lambs
James Van der Beak - The Rules Of Attraction
Julia Roberts - Erin Brockovic
Most of the above actually won Oscars - becuase they were actually good.
-
Racer, I know good movies when i see them. I dont need to see your favorites. Although alot of those are on my lists.
i know good acting in my opinion may be different than others, but I dont like actors as an over all thing, they think that they have been in a few movies, the world should revolve around them, they get stuck up.
Acting cant be that hard, I mean, any acting can be good, its just peoples opinions, people might say "movie x" has the worst acting, and others might say it has the best. So automatically one of them is right?
Im glad some people post what they think too, im glad for a diverse community here.
Oh yeah...
Spudz, you need a life.
HAHAHAHAH!!!!!! OMFG ROFLMFAO!!!!!
thanks for telling me
-
I actually agree with spudz,Some people are just born good liars. There are jobs out there a lot harder then acting and they get paid a hell of a lot less and take a lot more time to learn.
Actors=Overrated
-
Im glad someone agrees with me.
Im sure their are more people here that agree, but are afraid to express it.
-
I do believe that good acting take skill, but in general, that profession should not be blown out of proportion like it has been.
To say that acting is "an Art" is going too far in my opinion. If it\'s art, it\'s like "The art of plumbing" or something equivalent. The true art is created by THE WRITER who wrote the script, and THE DIRECTOR who figures out how to tell the story visually, and even THE CINEMATOGRAPHER who composes and lights the images. The actor\'s only job is to take what someone else created and make it believable. It\'s an important job, but it\'s not art in itself.
-
If acting isnt an art what is it? A trade?
Can you go to Community College and learn to be a actor in 2 years?
Your right that all acting is is portraying an emotion or a senario, but it\'s really really hard to do it convincingly.
Wheres the differnce between acting and playing piano?
With Piano, you use your hands to convey emotions that are created from your mind, with acting your useing your whole self to do the same thing, but with even more detail.
-
Acting is art. It is portraying a story or event. That is art.
Spudz, you just need to chill out, in general.
-
Acting cant be that hard
Then let\'s see you get an oscar within your lifetime. Let\'s see you get into a commercial even on TV. Let\'s see you make a coherent statement with some actual backing up for a change. "Acting isn\'t hard". You have provided no non-retarded reasons why this statement is true.
Tom Hank - Philidelphia, Forrest Gump
Nicole Kidman - The Others, The Hours
Jodie Foster - Silence Of The Lambs
James Van der Beak - The Rules Of Attraction
Julia Roberts - Erin Brockovic
LOL, wtf is going on there?
-
I thought the same thing when he said..
Julia Roberts - Erin Brockovic
-
Bleh,
Fine I just wont post my opinion any more.
You say I need to chill out? Erm, Yeah, who said I was freaking anyway?
-
C\'mon you guys are arguing about a bunch of rich people. You\'re defending them like if they would actually talk to you...
Anyways, I agree with Spudz. Actors get payed millions to pretend to be someone else. It\'s not about the great acting or the great script. It\'s about who has the most money to get those well known actors. Acting does take practice learning how to fake crying and all. All you have to do is be serious while saying your lines, if you aren\'t then......WHO CARES?!
They re-shoot the scene over and over and over and over and over again until you can keep yourself from laughing. I could be an actor..I can be serious and have a serious expression while lying, I can make faces and make my self cry, I can pretend to do things I can\'t really do. There are movies with the best actors, they end up stinking if the story doesn\'t fit or it doesn\'t make sense. Shit, give me a couple of million and I bet I could make a movie.
Then again, there are such things as bad actors. What the hell is up with all this wannabe actors? Im talking about all these rappers, Ja Rule, DMX, and probably some others.
The real actors are the ones that do it onstage. You **** up on stage, you can\'t go back in time and change that. They don\'t have those editing features to add mood or sound to the play.
Anyways im not complaining, I love movies. The Matrix is my Favorite movie of all time. Then of course A Beautiful Mind.

Actually they are very similar. Don\'t think that because playing the piano is seemingly more difficult than acting, that it suddenly becomes "ART." The pianist did not create the music "from their mind" unless they composed it. There is a big difference between those extremely competent classical musicians who perform in world renowned orchestras, but always play what someone else composed, performing it the way someone else told them to... AND those I consider real musicians. I\'m talking about those who write, arrange, and perform their own music. For example I consider Neil Young to be a far greater musician than even the most respected, technically proficient first violin in the LA Philharmonic. The majority of classical musicians get stamped out from music schools like machine parts, all prefabricated to perform the great pieces of western music as if they were a computer running a program.

Can anyone believe Roman Polianski won?
Man his films are great, gross, but great. I was sure they\'d remove his name after the whole molestation thing.
