Need help:
I\'m looking into buying an F1 game for the PS2. I\'ve read reviews for "Grand Prix Challenge" (apparently a newer release) and that one sounds good. What about the EA titles?
I just bought a Force Feedback wheel and I want a great open-wheel racing game to go with it!
Please help!
ps...can anyone confirm a new IRL game for this year? I can\'t find anything on it, although I\'ve heard rumors about it.

I BEG you ; do NOT buy EA\'s F1 2002 ! You\'d be better off spending the money it costs to the poor. It looks pretty nice
in screenshots, but oh boy does it have the cr@ppiest
framerate ever. I\'m talking 20 fps at most which also frequently
drops. The fact it comes on cd-rom underlines EA\'s sorry @ss
F1 franchise. I bought it second hand.... begh.. even that
doesn\'t make it any better. :crap:

Well I bought F1 2002 (EA, PC and for onlly $8.99!) and it does suffer from nasty framerate problems. (I have a 128 mb graphics card with 500 ram) It\'s impossible to show all the cars without slowdown.
Yes there will be a new IRL game http://www.psx2central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27998
Looks great except it doesnt have an Online mode.
seven has Grand Prix challenge maybe you should pm him.
The best F1 game out there probably is Grand Prix 4 for the PC

This is the best F1 game on any console Sony\'s game.

Codemasters are developing that IRL game but let me remind you of Toca Race Driver and Colin McRae Rally 3.

I don\'t think there are any good F1 games for the ps2 yet IMO.

Be wise to take a hint from an avid F1 nut, and equally avid racing sim nut. If it has the letters EA & F1 in front of it, and then 2000/2001/2002......and so on, stay clear of it, ito be honest, I wouldn\'t touch it with a 10 foot barge pole. The physics of the cars are terrible, in fact, the only thing as bad as the physics, is the dismally awful AI.
*hint*
Get yourself a copy of Geoff Crammonds GP3 (an old game now, but still a hell of a lot more realistic than anything EA has to offer, or the PS2 for that matter), or it\'s successor......... GP4.

He, I never came around to buying Grand Prix Challenge. Not enough money and even then, I wouldn\'t be sure if to get Sony\'s F1 (by Psygnosis/SCE Liverpool) or Grand Prix Challenge. Graphically and playability should be a breeze with GPC - it suffers from no framerate drops and has amazing graphics - although from what I heard it does suffer a lot from shimmering and flicker. I wasn\'t able to varify that, but you should at least chekc it out. Sony\'s recent attempt with their F1 sounds good, although I wouldn\'t know how it stack up against GPC.

The only thing GPC beats FO2002 in is the GFX.
