Rumsfeld \'wanted cheap war\'
Rumsfeld overruled Franks, the magazine says
US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld forced his military chiefs to accept his idea that a relatively small, lightly armed force should go to war with Iraq, it is being alleged.
The New Yorker magazine quotes unnamed Pentagon sources as saying that Mr Rumsfeld insisted at least six times before the conflict on the proposed number of troops being reduced.
In an article to be published on Monday, the magazine says Mr Rumsfeld overruled advice from the war commander, General Tommy Franks, to delay the invasion of Iraq.
The defence secretary has flatly denied overriding military commanders.

Me too. The B@stard almost looks like he\'s enjoying Talking about the Blood shed.
In fact I feel physically sick ever time I see his smug face on the TV during a Press Conference.
-
He is an odd character. He gives pretty funny press conferences though. I wonder what makes him think he would know more than Gen Franks?
-
1) Maybe it was (the Pact with the Devil) that gave Mr Rumsfeld his power of Foresight.
or
2) It could be that Mr Rumsfeld is just full of S%^T
quite feankly i think it might be a little of option 1 and a lot of option 2 ;)
