I bought it today. Its like a watered down verison of no mercy w/ better graphics. Cool characters too.
-
Watered down? How so?
-
I was thinking about buying it, but it looks like it\'s a bit arcadey with over the top impossible moves.
-
I\'ve still got Shut Your Mouth but I\'m gonna get this cos the Story Mode looks good, the control system looks pretty accessible&I\'ve heard nothinbg but good stuff about the gameplay...
I\'m not a big fan of Rap music, my brother is though, although I\'ve heard of all these guys in the game...and Christina Milian is in there too!and a gallery where you unlock pics of naughty ladies!lol (I hope my girlfriend doesn\'t see this!)
Overall,it\'s won me over before I\'ve even stepped into the ring and I\'m gonna get it...is it out anytime soon?
-
I didn\'t like the idea of rappers in this game at first, but having seen footage of it I have changed my mind. It looks fantastic, even better than my favorite wrestling game Smackdown: SYM. I will most likely get it when it is the PAL version is released.
-
If you like rappers, you get to play as them. If you hate rappers, go get the game, you get to beat them up. Everybody wins.
Besides, I heard it is a very fun game.
-
It\'s gotten good reviews so far.

-Seems like there are less moves per pad/button combos. ie:
I can only get the wrestlers to do 3 running moves vs the 6 u can do in No mercy.
-No CAW
-Its not "as" realistic as No Mercy. ie hit some w/ a piledriver, opponet gets right back up even when they have no energy.
-No weapons. (isnt this ghetto fighting)
The story mode is awsome though!!!! The specials and the characters moves are cool. The AKI engine is the best for wrestling games.
-
And in other news, Wrestlemania for XIX looks to borrow from the old AKI grapple system as well when it comes out for Gamecube. Looks like wrestling games might finally be turning around.
As for Def Jam, I\'m waiting til I finish Zelda, but from all accounts it looks like it will me impressive, even if the lack of CAW and weapons brings it down a bit.
Isn\'t it true that there are a few common match types missing as well?

do they have AK\'s and AR-15\'s for weapons in the game like in real life?
-
now that would make the game so much better.

That\'s right. ;] And when the match is over they ring the bell: *bling* *bling* *bling*

I would rent it first though.

I played it all last night and had a blast. I went through the storyline mode. It was a lot of fun, lots of things to unlock.
The game\'s biggest flaw is the lack of multiplayer modes, in my opinion. But it\'s still a blast and it\'s so great to finally have that game\'s engine back again.
It\'s paced a lot faster than the previous games which makes it more of an arcade experience, but the speed of the game is actually a welcome challenge. Like a new hurdle for people who\'ve mastered the last versions.
And another odd thing is while they have full songs in the menus, the songs that play during the matches are just repetitive samples without lyrics... Interesting decision there.
Oh and by the way, you fear a game whose tag champs are Method and Red. That\'s just cool. :)

OHHH! Just RUIN the whole game for us why don\'t you.
Next time use a spoiler tag, asshole!
;)
-
its got the legendary AKI engine, that thing was infamous!
-
Ghetto fighting? A-k\'s? Bling Bling? Riiiight... thats some ignorant bullshit. Your right. It would be fun if they had bottles and knives and all that good shit, but being black, i swing with the semi PC crowd (pollitically correct) when it comes to this kinda thing. The game looks great anyway. It would be funny though if they threw in say... carrot top, and when he comes in the ring he exclaims, "yo homie G! CT in tha hizzy fo sheezy yal." Then all of Wu Tang comes in and whoops his ass . Well maybe not funny to all of us ;)

I\'ll tell ya how.
Possible spoiler here, look out Bob:
You\'ve got to be quick for this fight. Get out of the ring, tap R2 to look at whoever followed you out, quick grapple and drop him. Then run. Keep that strategy and you should be able to get a special. But that likely won\'t win you the fight. The challenge is to keep your momentum going and get another special to get the KO (to be safe, try to hit it on the same guy who took the first one). If someone else gets special, run away like a little girl til it goes away. If you\'re feeling daring, occasionally turn and run towards him and hit a running grapple to keep yer spirit building.

I beat the story mode w/ Spider. Out of the 4 guys u can play, Spider is the best.
D-Mob is f\'n cool though!
