from Playstation World Magazine
"The real driving simulator seres has always offered the most comprehensive range of real cars - GT3 amassing over 500 - but that figure looks to be eclipsed by the sequel, which offers a staggering 2,000 real motors. This time around, we can expect to see a large number of convertibles, too - everything from a second hand Mazda MX-5 to a brand new Honda S2000 - all with accurately modelled drivers behind the wheel!
In line with the huge selection of cars, the track count has also been increased to over 100 circuits before any talk of reverse laps. Other features include online play, with players now able to talk to competitors using the telesales headset and, more importantly, compete online against eight rival drivers while gambling away a selection of prized supercars. The possibility of trading mufflers, body kits and racing chips over the net could cause car fans to behave like frenzied playground Pokemon traders.
But perhaps the most ambitious (and judging by your letters and emails, also the most sought after) feature that developer Polyphony is hoping to include is real damage effects for each car, which should mean no more bouncing off boundry walls like a rubber clad Robin Reliant. More details on this very soon."

I love the feature of trading parts online
-
I can\'t give a link has it\'s out of the UK PS2 mag PSW.

OMG! I feel like screaming like some teenage girl at an NSync concert. Well maybe not that, but damn. 100 tracks, and not even counting reverse, damage and 2000 cars!!! Whoa and body kits!!! I dont know about all of that. It seems waaaaaay to good to be true. And come on, 8 players online in lucious environtments/cars? Is this only for broadband users? Gambling for the Mazda 787B or maybe even new cars. Please licence ferrari or something in that class please. :D wow. if gt4 comes even close to this then im in heaven. A must buy

Something tells me, not to wet my pants yet!
No link, and these details, I\'ve learned to be critical over things like these

The quality of the graphics really doesn\'t make a difference to your bandwidth when playing online, as that information is not sent over the network. If the game engine supports 8 cars on screen, so should the online play aspect.

8 cars online may be a bit ambitious over a 56k line. Expect it to be broadband only, just as the squad based simulator (forgot the name, launched with the BB-unit).
Also, was this printed in the April issue? I find it somewhat fishy that GT3 apparently had 500 cars. I thought it was more like 150+, being in between GT1 and GT2.
-
GT3 never had 500 cars ;)
-
Yeah GT3 only had between like 100-150 cars, GT2 had closer to 500 (counting used cars).
Can\'t wait to see some screens and new tracks. I\'m trying not to get too excited before I see anything official from Polyphony Digital themselves.
Car damage please.....that\'s all I ask.

I\'d love to see some real time weather effects...
-
over 2000 cars! :suprised:
This game is going to be amazing. Definetly a canidate for GOTY.
-
Forget that people - no where on earth will you have 2000 cars. Just think about it for a second, if one car is modeled in just one day, you can count about 2000 days to model all of then. One possibility is that every 2nd car\'s model is re-used, but what would you do with that many anyway? I\'d rather have fewer cars but a broader range to choose of. We don\'t need 2nd hand cars...
2000 cars and 100 tracks is a bit too ambigious...

I hope this really isn\'t an April Fool\'s joke. That\'s an April issue. Hmmmmm.......
-
If all of that is true, imagine how long it will take to make. It took forever for GT3 and that was about 1/20th of what this game is sounding like.
