Some sprite ripping fun i\'ve been having.

My first attempt was this, from darkstalkers.  Wasn\'t to bad, but not the best.

anyone else tried sprite ripping? If so, post something. it\'s quite fun. :D

I like sprites, and occasionaly change color variations.

I use this one on a seperate form (GameGenerations)

I know r4nd0m (personally) and also he has something about sprites. Im not sure though- ill ask him about it.

I use a emulator that has a screenshot program on it. It allows me to remove backgrounds / lifebars etc and then i take a screenshot, forward a frame, screenshot etc. Till i have the total animation. Then i have to make it a animation with a program called GIF Construction Set. Crop the image, to remove anything i don\'t need. Then save, wella. :)

The first one i did by pretty much editing every single frame.. Took ages, but i didn\'t have the programs to crop it myself. I had to resize every frame. I did it a stupid way though, instead of selecting the bottom corner including the character and editing it later etc, i selected only the character to copy. So he ended up moving all over the place.

Here\'s another one. Which will come in handy for my battles with mm ;)

That was done at the character screen. So i\'ll do another one where it\'s ingame to get rid of the jin text.. If u want.

yeah its jin from capcom- probably one of the more cooler looking video game characters.

question; can u make it slower- with transparent back ground? just wondering so it can fit nicer, but that still kicks arse- links to the programs so i can try this out?

Welp, this is the best i can do, it\'s hard to make transparent backgrounds on single layed animations. So i did it frame by frame..

You\'ll need nebula emulator + whatever games u want to rip sprites from.

You\'ll need gif construction set to make the animations. Get it here (http://www.mindworkshop.com/alchemy/alchemy.html)
I also use A smaller Gif to compress the Gifs more. Get it here (http://www.peda.com/smaller/download.html)

Very cool,

on a scale one to ten- ten being professional what would your stuff go under?

Ive played alot of 2-d fighters but I cant really notice any different graphical/framerate differences in any games almost.

Just keep in mind Transparent backgrounds take more time. So if u ask for transparent backgrounds it will take slightly longer.

I have no Idea what a sprite is and where your getting thme from after reading all that I have read IM SO CONFUSED

A sprite is an object (being a graphic movie clip or button) that you would use within an animaiton.  You could also call them symbols  for example.  a character in a walking sequence.  The symbol would be the character walking in one spot.  In the animation you would move the symbol from one spot to another while carrying on with its walking sequence.

you can make them yourself if you know how.  I think what Souly is doing is screen capture from a video game and rebuilding it in an animation program.

I said where i\'m getting them from, nebula emulator has a inbuilt screenshot program. But it allows u to remove backgrounds, special effects, other characters etc and capture frame by frame. After that i edit the animation in gif construction set and animation shop 3, then i recompress them in A smaller Gif.  :)

not hard once u know how. Just takes more time for transparent backgrounds.

Can someone download this (http://www.psx2central.com/~soul/new/RyuSuper.swf) flash animation. It\'s just the Ryu super, and tell me if the gif animation is running close to the same speed or if the gif animation is far more slower. My system seems to be playing the gif animations slow, but in the programs i use they run fast. I can\'t figure out what\'s goin on.

strange.. on all the machines i\'ve tested these on. They run slowly compared to the flash animation. Yet run fine in the animation programs.. Only 1 machine i\'ve tested them on worked at full speed, and it\'s the exact same as mine expect it has a smaller hd and a 7vax mobo instead of 7vaxp.   It really has me confused....
