An AMD 2500+ Barton, or a 2.4 Intel Northwood?
New egg has both of these on sale, if I remember correctly the Barton is selling with fan and heat sink at 135 or the likes, and the Northwood is at 140. So the price difference is pretty miniscule.
I\'m also contemplating the 3000+ xp Barton, but it\'s about 340, and I can\'t see paying another 200 bucks for a 1/6 more performance. I mean hell I could just overclock the 2500, and reach 3000 without even changing the voltage.

easy decision, intel

If you\'re planning on overclocking buy a better hsf.
The next AMD I buy will be the 64 bit whatever the name is now.
Flip a coin.

I was thinking about the Barton because I can get it to about a 3200 pr rating on air. But by the same token, you can get the 2.4 to about the same on air also. However, I heard the Barton is a better gaming cpu when teamed up with a nvidia2 board.
And I\'m deffinetly going to get a better hsf, just for some reason the retail Barton is less than the OEM.

According to Tom\'s Hardware they are about dead even in performance. Personally I\'d go with the Intel because if something goes wrong you know it\'s not your CPU. ;)

I\'m also eyeing a 2700tbred, at price watch they\'re only 170 bucks, and they OC well.

2500+ Barton, for sure.

AMD for gaming
Although i\'d probably get a p4 myself, as I don\'t play many games on my comp.

AMD, the cpu issue is lame and outdated.
But personally i\'d rather get a Tbred 2500+ then a Barton.
