Can someone please tell me why spam is called spam (not the spiced ham, but the junk mail etc...)

I\'ve tried searching google, but to no avail.

Why is yogurt called yogurt?

Its a name.

But really; its because of the ham. spam is junk. Both the mail and meat. Its everything tossed together to create junk
