I got stung this evening. About 5 minutes after I began having sharp sensations in my hands, then my feet. I then had severe pains in my chest. I began sweating like a madman. Lona called the paramedics and they came. My blood pressure when they got there was 80 over 40. It was not cool. THe raised my feet and I started feeling better. BP went back up.
I\'m telling you that was so much pain. Right now my hand is swelled up like a balloon. It sucks.
I\'ve been stung a few times by bees, but I think this is the first wasp. Brutal. I\'m going to run like a school girl from now on from those little bitches.
Any of you have any brutal experiences? For me Wasps kick bee ass. When I got stung by the bees I was like, "That all you got bitch?" But the wasp, damn that was freaking scary.
-
There\'s always wasps around here, but luckily I\'ve never been stung by one. It\'s also lucky considering how much I\'m outside. We also have ~2 - 3 wasp nests in our house.
-
I\'ve never been stung by a wasp, so i wouldn\'t know if i was alergic to them.
but i\'m glad to see that yer okay :).
-
Yeah, I\'ve been stung by bees a bunch of times. Last time was by a wasp, it just hurt more... No reaction or anything.
-
I\'m not alergic to them but I f@cking hate them it that\'s any consolation. I got stung in the bathroom once when I got up early one morning for a drink of water. The little bastard was on the tap and stung my hand when I turned it on.
-
I\'ve been stung once in my life. Damn I hate those stupid things. I also run like a school girl when I see one! :D
(well, at least I used to - now I\'m more relaxed about it and just try and sit still)
-
I\'m telling you what, I have never felt like that before. That was very very scary. I wonder how low my blood pressure got before the paramedics showed up. I mean in the course of ten minutes from when I started feeling the pain to when the medics left I was soaking wet and don\'t remember several minutes of it.
Freaky. We have wasps nest a lot here. I am constantly spraying them. Now that I know I am alergic to them it\'s even worse.
-
I saw a documentary about stuff like that once on discovery channel. It seems that death risk is pretty high for ppl who are
alergic to this. Eventually the poison of the wasp will cause the
muscles around the person\'s airpipe to spasm and contract,
thus suffocating the victim. When such a degree of wasppoison allergy is determined these ppl get to wear an amulet capsul with anti-poison. That\'s their only life line when stung. Creepy huh ?
You remember that movie "The Crush" with that girl who releases a wasp hive on that other woman ?
Now I have been stung about 4 or 5 times in my 25 y o life by wasps ; i m probably not allergic to it but i\'m still kind of  about wasps.
-
I tell you, those things hurt like a bitch. Everyone laughs at me when I avoid them but I don\'t want to get fackin stung by one. What\'s worse is my room is now infested with Termites, well not as bad as wasps though... then I\'d have a severe issue.
-
Right there with you, vid. I\'m not allergic to bees at all. But one time when I was around 19 I was riding my motorcycle through a suburban neighborhood and went through a swarm of yellowjackets. I had a full-face helmet and a leather jacket on. They got all up inside of my helmet and down my neck and stung me 7 or 8 times. I pulled over swearing my ass off and tried to get my helmet and shit off, then I passed out on some old dude\'s front lawn, bike still running. This old fart just kept mowing the lawn! I woke up and could hardly breathe. I got on the bike and went to the emergency room, but it was a 45 minute wait. So I just went to the pharmacy and bought some benedryl and laid down in the park until I could breathe again...
That sucked ass.
-
Damn Chizzy.. Your one hard core "M.F"er
-
Well what Knotter said is totally correct. I now have to have a shot available to me at a moment\'s notice at all times. The doctor told me that compared to the first time you get stung, the future times are much worse and are very deadly.
Let me tell you, I\'m not bitching about the actual sting. I\'m no pussy. That wasn\'t that big of a deal. I mean they sting, but it\'s really no big whoop. If you are alergic to them though you will know it. It\'s a different ball game.
I have pills to take for the next week to get my systemic rate or something back in order. I still have chest pains.
What a bitch.
-
Allergic to \'em also. Tho\' I have only been stung once. It friggin\' sucks.
-
Swollen hand, eh? Hope it\'s not your "wiping" hand. :p
-
There was a guy in the UK last summer eating an ice cream outside. He didn\'t notice a wasp on it and he ended up getting stung in the mouth. He too was alergic to the sting and 10 minutes later he was dead.
-
No, it\'s my left hand. Which is a good thing because it was numb yesterday. I\'d walk out of the crapper with shit all over my hand. DOH.
-
A wasp nearly killed my cousin last summer. He was enjoying a beer one sunny day, happy and unaware of a little wasp whom also craved for a cool drink. Without a warning, this little bastard snuck into my cousin\'s glass. Not long before it had found it\'s way to my cousin\'s throat. Seemingly disappointed by it\'s new surroundings, it stung him and buzzed out. My cousin, being allergic to bees, nearly suffocated - but thanks to a long straw and fast paramedics, he survived the incident.
I am afraid to death of bees and wasps. I hate those creatures. I would love to see them annihilated - heck, flowers should find a new way to spread their sperm! I have never been stung by one, fortunately, and hopefully never will be.
-
Wasps bite, don\'t they? From what I notice, they don\'t have stingers. But they\'re still venomous and they do hurt. I\'m not allergic thank god. I only got stung by one bee in my lifetime. I get them before they get me ;)
-
No, they have a stinger, but it\'s not a barb type like in a bee that breaks off inside of you.

   LMFAO. Damn im sorry but that is one of the funniest things ive heard all week. *stops to get breath*. Yeah i have been stung before but i didnt really feel it most of the times. I remember when i was a kid in about 2nd or 3rd grade, me and all my friends (and some of the really gay ones) made and expirement.
We poured juice from the lunch room on a little boundary thing in the park during recess and put a cup of juice down as well. So there were bees around and we captured them and killed them (i dont remember how) but they were still in tact physically. So we used a popcicle stick and pressed down on the abdomen and the stingers started to come out. It was soo kool.
One of the stupid kids took a stinger out and was trying to put it in everybody\'s face. I think another kid smacked it out of his hands and called him and idiot and the kid just stood there dumbfounded.
Clever huh? :nerd: (gimme a break it was a private school!)

Guess why I moved to Alaska? No wasps :D.
On the bee thing- Ive been song some bad times, in some bad spots . Twice on the hand, on the arms countless times, and on the back of my ear once- that ****ing hurts. They always seem to do it on a nice day.
What is worse than stings: Yesterday, I was washing my car (Rav4), and was cleaning the spare tire in the back, which is a pain in the ass. And a huge ****ing bug flew in my mouth- having a natural gag reflex, as everyone does- I ****ing swallowed it. I could feel it stuck in my throat buzzing. God- ****ing sick.
I am allergic to mold. Sucks- cause alaska is full of it.
-
I almost died and you swallowed a bug. FOr some reason I think being allergic to wasps is a little worse.
-
I\'ve never been stung by a bee or a wasp in my life...so... who knows, maybe i am alergic to them.
-
I got a bug stuck in my ear once. Couldn\'t get the thing out, so it now lives in my brain.
Well the first part is true.
No, they have a stinger, but it\'s not a barb type like in a bee that breaks off inside of you.
What kind do they have?
-
Woot Vid right there with you, but not anymore when I was younger I climed a tree and got into a nest got stung 20 something times spent three days in the hospital and the like a year later I got into a mud wasp thing under the roof of our house and got stung 4 or 5 times so my mother rushed me to the ER and nothing happened... The think that all those previouse sting the year before made me build a tolerence... I rock and am now wasp invencible!!!
-
I had tennis practice, in December and this f*cker decides to crawl in my shorts and stung my ass 5 times, jesus I thought my ass was on fire. I\'m glad he didn\'t venture up into my members area. I\'m glad I wasn\'t allergic, that f*cker hurt, I feel for ya vid.

You are talking about an insect here, right? :p
-
I spoke with Lona (My wife) last night. Apparently it was a little worse than I thought. She said I passed out for about 10 minutes. She said she was beating on me before the paramedics came trying to wake me up. It really scared her a lot. She said Logan was telling the paramedics to "fix daddy." My boy rocks.
-
maybe he was just trying to ensure his status as an only child. ;)
-
yes an insect, that is the subject we are on right?
-
I\'m sorry mjps21983, but the way you told that story, it is F***ing funny! I just about passed out laughing.....
Fav part: I thought my ass was on fire.:p :p

Fix Daddy. Great stuff. Your kid is awesome

Yet you didnt die. I almost died- by suffocation, its all the same- dying or not. Sorry to hear about it though.
 Fix daddy!
-
Well it looks like I have to go through a series of desensitizing shots. That\'s going to be fun. I assume they inject you with venom to do this. I get to do it weekly for a while, then monthly over a 5 year period. This sucks.
I have read quite a bit on the internet on several allergy sites and it\'s pretty freaky. I had no clue they are as bad as they are. I probably came as close to death as I will come. So needless to say I won\'t be going camping any time soon.
-
That sucks, bro... I really can\'t think of any purpose for mudwasps, either. They don\'t pollenate anything, do they?
-
it still is a creepy thought that such a small wasp can floor a human  . I myself had hay fever as a kid ; ye know -> getting sneazy from grass and all sortsa flowers in spring and i had really mild astma which fortunately I grew over all this
(also thanx to therapy). Allergics just suck bigtime, but a wasp
allergy is a very extreme one at that. It\'s really nasty becuz they\'re so unpredictable and they can fly. When I got stung by one of them i just got a bump on the place it stung. That remained the same up until the fourth time. i guess i m not allergic to it otherwise i REALLy would have noticed like Videoholic said.
-
Oh yeah, big time. It takes my breath away every time I think about how lucky I was. What really bothers me the most is that I can\'t just go outside and mo the lawn anymore. I can\'t really do a damn thing outside without this always being in the back of my mind.
I haven\'t been stung by a wasp in 32 years, but now I am scared to death of the damn things.
I did read that it is very uncommon for someone to be allergic to both Bees and Wasps. That\'s a good thing because I have been stung by bees several times.
Now I have to carry a damn shot everywhere I go. How annoying is that? Lona keeps joking that she is going to get me a man bag. Whatever. Gaylord. I think I\'d rather die.
Some ignorant people here joke with me about it, but I just chaulk it up to complete ignorance. I mean the sting was nothing. That\'s all they can think of when they here of a reaction to the wasp sting. They don\'t realize that someone can go into shock and pass out from it. How a tiny little insect can drop a man like that is unbelievable, but I\'m just happy to be alive.
-
LOL, yeah, these ignorant ppl don\'t understand it \'s not the sting but the poison from the wasp which is lethal to ppl who are allergic to it. Suggest them to try taking a shot of poison in their bloodstream (something for example which causes heart troubles on non allergic ppl too). See how brave they are then ? But I suggest you don\'t let your life be dictated by fear, because such a life is no life. Just keep a healthy stock amount of that anti-poison stuff and keep one on you all the time. I see you have a kid ; you\'re bound to go and play ball with him outside in the future eh ? Just have fun !
-
The best thing to do is just forget about it. The chances of being stung again- and having an affect are probably slim. Just dont irritate them. I can get bee\'s to land on my hand if I\'m calm enough.
I remember when I ****ed up my wrist skating. It took me a long time to even think about skateboarding. Now today- I almost forget about it, and even laugh at my mistake. But its hard to forget- I have possible surgery on my wrist because it broke a vital bone.
Anyway Video- I hope you feel better if you havent, and remember; along with that shot, carry one big ass flyswatter.
-
Chances of being stung again are slim. True. Chances of dying if I do get stung, Extremely High. Especially for the first year.
We have 4 wasps nests around our house. It\'s ridiculous how many are around here. I spray these damn things all the time. Now Lona has to do it.
-
Man. That really sux. I never knew that could happen. Man now im all scared of them now. I used to have a nest in a tree house of mine with a slide. Man it was some scary s***. My cusin took a hose to the slide and all these wasps just came flying out. It was freaky back then. They were even all around my house at times. Im glad i only lived there for a little while. I know i dont even feel a quarter as scared as you do but i know where your coming from and i feel you. Live life thats all i can say, and just be careful.
-
Are these allergies hereditary??
If they are then it might be a good idea to get Logan checked out Vid.
-
I was told they are and I am trying to get my dad checked as well. when I go to the actual allergist next month to start all of this testing and dessensitizing crap I will talk to him about my father and Logan. We are about to build a house and I don\'t want him to have to worry about it. I really don\'t know if he\'s been stung before. We\'ve all been stung by bees, but never wasps.
Lona went around last night and killed 5 nests. A couple of which were on the neighbor\'s houses.
She\'s been acting great. I guess it really hit her hard the thought of losing me. She has already lost her mom, dad, and sister. She really only has me. Although the half mill in life insurance would be nice, I think she\'s not ready to chash that in yet. If she wasn\'t there to call 911, oye....
