Isn\'t this kind of discussion frowned upon?

not really, cause with bleem you can use retail PSX disks

Emulation isn\'t illegal. No matter how much people like to believe so. It\'s roms and copied software that is. If you own the orignal of whatever you\'re emulating on your pc. It\'s not illegal. Right now ps2 isn\'t emulated. Although there\'s a DC emulator in the works. :)

There is a ps2 emulator but it won\'t play games at the moment
as it is early in development. It is called PCSX2 and there is a version floating around on the web. The current state of play is that it currently only emulates the CPU.

isn\'t it impossible to emulate ps2 software (with the current pc technologie anyways) because of the bandwith/ streaming ram (I\'m not sure if I\'m using the right words, but you get the point) thing? :S

Ps2 has such a big bus mainly because it can\'t really have much stored in it\'s mem. So it needs to push as much info as quickly as possible.
Pcs have harddrives and normally a fair amount of mem. The newer pcs mem and cpu setups can get over 6.4gb. Here\'s (http://www.acme.com/build_a_pc/bandwidth.html) chart to get a idea. :)

it isn\'t impossible to emulate ps2, but doing it realtime and without errors is damn hard. (read impossible, atm)
especialy when programmers want fast code on ps2 they do some fun things with the memory busses and vu0 and vu1.
when you emulate all that stuff with with cpu on pc you get pretty incredible amount of juggling around for x86.
pc graphics cards won\'t accelerate the vu0 and vu1 for long time.. perhaps never.
soulgrind is there any information how the dc emulator renders the transparent objects?
dc didn\'t need to sort any polygons.. (thanks for the tile-renderer, which can render pixel perfect intersection of transparent polygons.)

icarus is meant to be the emulator being built. Right now i\'m not sure how far they are into developing it. No one is really, sense there site is down. :( Some people think it\'s bullshit. Some believe it. I will when i see it for myself.

I remember that Icarus was first announced on april 1st. Make from that what you will.
