Sony are about to lift the lid on it\'s 1st Playstation 2 shooter developed by Lost Boys Games in the Netherlands. The screens will be up around June 12th - 16th.

Killzone
Kill Zone-A specific place in space and time where firepower will be coordinated to destroy enemy forces. Terrain and obstacles are typically used to shape the battlefield so that enemy forces enter the kill zone.

Sorry but I think Halo is one of the most overrated games ever. Looks nice tho but that doesn\'t help how it plays.

PS2 dosnt have the power to beat Halo. I just got a XBox and Halo, I havr to say it is alsome. The PS2 isnt as stong as th Xbox. I\'m not saying that the Ps2 isnt anygood.

I have Cube, Xbox and PS2 so I don\'t really care which is the best, I\'ll just take both.

What is there to get excited over? It\'s pretty much a given that the game will be the same recycled engine, only in a new city. Woo.
GTA4 info would be great, though. But chances are that won\'t start rolling in until after more PS3 details emerge.

hehehe that probably explains why you rate Halo so highly. Halo is a good looking but fairly average FPS. It\'s not bad but way overrated. If you care more for gfx than gameplay than I can understand why you like Halo and dislike HL. Although you\'ll never admit that of course... true or not.
I\'ve never heard of anyone say that they hate HL. Is it humanly possible to hate HL?

Halo is good an all but im wating for Halo 2. Personaly i like the TS series just as much as halo if not better. We have had this discussion before and shut your holes before pummeling me with "why, why, why" and just accept the fact. There have been many FPS but nothing that compare to Counter Strike :D. :laughing: Well i wouldnt say that but i could care less whether Halo takes the gold.

Stupidest. Statement. Ever.
Halo has some of the best gameplay of this generation. Not many games(if any) have comparable gameplay and storyline. The graphics are just icing on the cake.

I found Halo boring. It\'s the same thing over and over, and also story isn\'t that great (certainly not as good as HL). I could care less what you think though coz you\'ve always been biased.

Halo has some of the best gameplay of this generation.
umm, exactly what did halo add to the FPS crowd besides slightly better graphics (ignoring the 30fps crutch)

How can you say that? Half Life was the most boring loads of bollox I have ever played, I only got it so I could play Counter Strike, I never even finished HL it bored me so much. Halo on the other hand was a joy to play and a joy to complete.

After the first 5 levels, yes. And we all know Bungie had to pretty much tack all of those extra levels on because MS wanted the game to be longer.
Before that though, the levels and situations are quite varied.

- A kickass multiplayer mode that\'s great for LAN parties \'n\' such. 16 player CTF in Blood Gulch or Sidewinder = Own.
... I think it\'s quite understandable why HALO recieves as much praise as it does. It has it\'s glaring flaws, of course. But they can be easily overlooked when you really consider the overall package.
But yeah, not like you elitists will care. HALO = teh overhyp3d!1 othar FSP r betar!!11one[/i]

halo\'s popularity was mainly driven by the lack of ANYTHING else on the system that was worth playing, and still isnt
does it bring together alot of good idea from previous FPS\'s? sure, but it is far from the best of anything.

It\'s popularity goes far beyond being one of the few selling points of the Xbox. You may find this very hard to believe, but lots of people, even some hardcore PC FPS players, actually find the game very, very fun to play... :eek: You have played games that you consider better, but the point I\'m trying to push is that it\'s not completely understandable why people consider HALO one of the best... Preferences of systems aside.

this FPS argument is old, your eyes can only see 30FPS and anything faster doesnt seem faster.....I beleive I saw that somewhere.....where I cant remeber

The human eye can notice up to 60FPS I think.

I think someone mentioned this before but just as a reference;
GTA3 = 30fps. GT3 = 60fps. If you can\'t telll the difference you need glasses.
Back on topic.. Halo rocks, Half-Life rocks, and how many "Halo killers" for the PS2 have been overhyped already? Xbox has Halo, PS2 has everything else. I don\'t think ANY game in PS2\'s lifespan will beat Halo in that genre, yes even the first one.
And just personally, I preferred Halo slightly over HL. The Co-op mode and the involving charcters/storyline had a lot to do with that.

not neccessarily, it could turn out like "the getaway" 3 years in development and only to turn out to be a dissapointment (barring some aspects).

Sonys secret FPS
Sonys long awaited – you guessed it – Halo beater, will be called Killzone, not Kin as originally reported in PSM2 #35. During our recent visit to UDS in Sweden, we met a Dutch journalist who claimed to have seen the game first-hand, thanks to his friendship with Amsterdam based developers Lost Boys. Apparently, the game has a sci-fi feel, with stylised graphics that comfortably hold their own against Xboxs finest hour. Space marines – or whatever they call them – were dropped into the ‘Killzone’ via a chopper, before demonstrating some ‘tasty’ weaponry. Our source thought the game was so impressive, he feared it might be a CGI mock up. As you read this, well be looking at the game first-hand in E3. Bad news – Killzone wont be released until 2004. Good news – it should be online compatible.

I don\'t understand whats so great about Halo besides the graphics. The story wasn\'t great and the gameplay was nothing new except for the cars.
It will sound crazy to you guys but I had much more fun with Red Faction.

Wow, a Halo killer and it only took them 2 years.
Halo rocked, there is no reason to believe that Halo 2 won\'t blow the original away. The pics have shown it has amazing graphics, the gameplay described sounds incredible.
Where is the other "halo killah", Planetside? That one has been claiming the "killah" title for quite some time.
I guess we\'ll have to see when Killzone is released in 2004...probably right around the time Halo 2 is released.
Sounds like a good time to be a FPS fan:)

I\'ve been getting mixed Planetside impressions. I played it at my cousin\'s for a little, watched him play for most of the time... But from what I\'ve gathered: Good concept, executed poorly.
Maybe someone who actually has the game can give you their impressions.

i dont have the game but other Fujax guys have it and they are hooked on it. maybe a little too much since not many of them are on raven shield as much,lol..if it comes up ill post what they say about the game

Well I hate HL...in fact I hate all FPS, so there you have it....it\'s very humanly possible to hate HL...and i never think the graphics in Halo is anything astounding...sub par 30fps with significant lag isn\'t what I would like to call state of the art.
Frankly, they both suck. But Halo probably suck just a little less.

If for a game to have a great storyline, you have to read a separate novel, then I really don\'t think you should say the game has a great storyline.
My biggest gripe with Halo is that each of the levels went for about 30 minutes too long.

I didn\'t say Halo had a poor storyline (though, it was far from great). I was just attesting the notion of a separate novel being used as a form of evidence to back up claims of it having some amazing and deep story.
