Well, not exactly, but it\'s something like this:

No, just not in line for ps3 thats all.

If it isnt backwards compatable Im gonna be pissed.
It saves alot of time- and money.
-
That\'s a lot of ps2\'s.
-
Looks exactly what GMan was talking about in his thread.
-
Imagine GT4 running on that thing.
Seriously though, why the hell would you do that?

Yeah i know... what with no real time weather... and no visible damage .... Why would you get fooled into buying GT3 but with just more cars and Tracks.

^^
Exactly. They should just create an add-on disc and leave the real GT3 sequel to the PS3.

Sony confirmed (http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/030421ae.pdf) Cell would be used in the Playstation 3.
"With this investment, SCEI will manufacture the new microprocessor for the broadband era, code-named “Cell”, as well as other system LSIs, to be used for the next generation computer entertainment system."
Unless "next generation computer entertainment system" means something else..
-
Um...is this a joke? That\'s a mass cluster of PS2\'s...
-
No joke
Its saying how possibly powerful the PS3 can be...
Take all those Playstations add it up, and you get the ps3
-
Thats that stupid 70 PS2s clustered togther. It\'s supposed to rank among the worlds 500 most powerful supercomputers.

Well first of all i could have sworn that i read something coming from the people at sony to some site that it would not be ready. Many publications have stated their dibelief in sony because it would not be ready thus having them look for alternates. I could have sworn i posted that in a thread not so long ago? Anyway the 2nd page seems to be jacked but, meh. I guess we will just have to wait a little bit.
-
It\'s ignorant. The Cell is just downright ignorant from every stand point.
Sony is hitting the hype machine a zillion times more than they did with the PS2 and yet, I see nothin\' worth notin\'. "Cell"? Come on. Their idea for the "Cell" would be inpratical and impossible to program for.

Sony never said that, some websites did. And then days later, Sony released the statement I posted.

I just wanna play Dynasty Warriors 5 or 6 with no fogging, no clipping, no flickering and...other stuff. :)

This is so wrong. It\'s always funny when pictures somehow get around, but the article to those pics don\'t. Those clustered PS2\'s have nothing to do with CELL and/or PS3.

sony never stated it themselves, and I doubt you can find me any article with a DIRECT quote. Sony has confirmed/hinted multiple times already that CELL is infact going to be in PS3. Don\'t expect CELL/PS3 to be ready before 2006 though. I think PSX is a very good indication that Sony is not going to launch in 2005, but rather 2006.

Ignorant huh? From any stand point? Okay bro, give one very good reason as to why CELL is ignorant. However, I don\'t think anyone will argue that what you have just said must be the most ignorant thing. Congrats.

Its obvious that those stacked ps2\'s have nothing to do with ps3, thats obvious but while we are on the subject who gives a crap? Im glad that they are imlementing the cell into ps3 and in some sense im glad that ps3 may come out a bit later beause it allows people to fully use their ps2\'s ie network adaptor etc. We will see how things turn out.
Can you imagine what the first tech demos will be like for any of the nexgen systems? Bliss... or so i hope:D

I just did a little backtracking through Adan\'s picture in the first post, went to the webpage and read about how many colleges are doing studies on grid based computing. They refer to it as computing with toys...interesting stuff.
Schools doing studies with grid networked ps2\'s
National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the Computer Science department at the University of Illinois
Grid Middleware on a Playstation 2 at the University of Manchester

Dude thats the lamest thing I\'ve read
technology moves forward, and hype helps pay the Bills keeps exxcitement in the company and keeps the stock holders happy. Evrey company does it when they have a hot product coming down the pipes.
and Sony hasn\'t hit the hype machine any differnet then anything they\'ve done with the PS2
but its good to see your still on that crusade against Sony and basic business pratices.
If the idea for the cell is impratical then why would IBM and Toshiba invest 100\'s of millions themselves ????
With three of the most powerful technology compaines involved in this world, the technology of the cell is more then possible
It does come down to praticallity of wether it would be fully ready in time for the PS3, and wether they can work out the kinks quick enough. There are probably to many bottlenecks in the rest of the industry to support the cell sooner then later
but since Sony owns the industry they really don\'t have to be in a hurry to release the PS3.
