Hi, i just got a new computer and for some reason there is a pop up thing that appears on it all the time i go online, this is what it says: "Messenger service" at the top of the window and then a whole load of crap like "free cable TV", "super fast downloads" and then it says to go to a site to stop the pop ups, but to download the \'stopper\' costs money, which is a load of bullshit coz i am not paying to stop somwthing i didnt start.
Anyone know about this or where i can download software to stop it??
adaware and Mcaffee virus scanner cam up with nothing btw. =[

Call the held desk of whatever computer maker you got that from and ask them.
-
Go to Control panel. Then Adminstrative tools, then services. Scroll down to "Messenger" right click on it then press on stop.

youre just too fast souly, I was just about to type that but you beat me to it......... I too hated that until I watched Tech TV and found out how to turn it off.

yeh i know, and they suceed, but what i meant was like did microsoft put them in there?
-
Yes, it\'s part of windows. Guess they make deals with companies to allow them to send crap to this messenger service, or companies just found out a loop hole windows has and decided to use it.. Either way it pisses a lot of people off.
