I currently have a Nokia 8250, but am wanting to upgrade. However, I\'d like it to have accouple of features;
*Colour screen
*Bluetooth
*Radio
*MMS messaging
*MP3 player
I don\'t care about brand, as long as it looks cool.
Edit - This is the one I was considering
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nokia.com.au%2Fnokia_apac%2Faustralia%2Fimages%2F3300_main_header.jpg&hash=ae218e65a448817e827361434dfde5ccb20d41e8)
I was a bit turned off as it looked like the N\'Gage.
-
I noticed you don\'t have the
*Able to use as phone*
as one of your features.
:)
-
Mp3 player on a cellphone?
Yikes, your choices dropped significantly.
-
hehehe, never thought of that vid.
the reason i want mp3 is because i was considering buying an mp3 player, and since i need to update my phone, i thought i may as well get it combined.
has anyone used the 3300? There supposed to be a really good Sony phone out aswell. I dont care on the brand, just trying to get some hands on info.
-
Well I think their is a availability issue too. You live in Australia right?
The same ones arent always offered in the US.
-
seimens s55 is a great chioce, otherwise i recommend the Nokia 6610

I can\'t recommend you doing that, cause phones have real crappy mp3 players, you can put like 5-10 songs on it and they sound like crap. If you really want an mp3 player buy a separate one
-
all these new types of phones are just ghey. They\'re meant to be for communication. Now there just "mines better then yours" type of thing...
i\'ll stick to the 3310 thnx.
-
HRMPF @ Tyrant and Politiepet. I have the Siemens SL45 and it has an EXCELLENT MP3-player built-in. I mean it - the sound is awesome. Of course I have a 128 mb MMC so there\'s plenty of storage for my needs. Besides, the battery on the phone is quite good.
But to answer Racer: You can only get like one or two phones with all those features (if even one at all - especially the bluetooth part).
Anyway, I\'d recommend the Siemens SX1.
http://www.mobile-review.com/phonemodels/siemens/siemens-sx1-en.shtml
I like Siemens. Nokia\'s are alright too, but everyone and their dog has one, which has put me off to that brand. I like having something not everyone else has.
-
If you get a mobile with those feature, make sure it has a MMC extension... because the storage of these cells is very short.
My Siemens S55 has polyphonic, colour screen, java applications, MMS, camera, GPRS... and the best: it\'s really cheap.
I was considereing to buy a cell with radio and MP3, like you, but quality, storage, battery and prices told me: wait a little.
-
Wouldn\'t the quality of mp3 playback be dependant on the quality of the headphones?
The Nokia 3300 has 32 meg internal, with MMC capabilities which is handy.
Yeah, there are some phones in Australia that aren\'t available in the US and vice versa. The Siemans looks nice, I might just check it out.
I\'d also love a tri band phone...
-
BTW, the mobile review site has some wacked grammer.
-
Racer, that Siemens I spoke about is triband.
-
Just get a good cell phone... i think thost Nokia\'s are stupid looking. I can just picture seeing someone with that big friggin electronic piece of crap up to their ear. I\'ll stick with my motorola V60i... Kick ass cell phone.
-
If I were to buy a cellphone today I\'d get the Ericsson T610 or Samsung Sgh300
-
Right now I have this thing: It serves it purpose- its not really mine, but my dads, but I get to use it whenever.

If I could pick a cellphone:

Kyocera 7135
-
dude, look at that thing! soon cell phones will come with a back pack, just to contain all the shit they can do.
-
I feel stupid , as I am a self-acclaimed geek and love everything new, I however never jumped on the cell-phone bandwagon. Maybe it is my hatred for phones in general. Then factor in the fact, the idea of being on call at any given time..It just irks me...
Tho\', I\'ll give you, some of them are pretty f**kin\' cool looking.
-
I know what you mean LIC, sometimes it just peeves me off when people learn not to call me unless its actually important.
I usually only use it for emergencies or something important.
It can save a bunch of time for calling a tow truck from your cell, instead of walking their.

Is mp3 playback quality really that bad on cell phones, or is it head phone dependant.
Hmm, I might just get the 6610. Is it true that the higher the number (1-9 series) the better the phone??? Like, is a Nokia 8250 better than a 6610 simply because its a larger #? That mobile review site gives me that impression.

No, read my comments. The MP3 playback doesn\'t involve any moving parts etc. so it\'s not hard to produce decent MP3 playback. I\'d say it relies mostly on the headphones. But as I said, there are phones out there with excellent MP3 playback (Siemens SL45).

It\'s true in the sense that the higher number means higher end. Like how a 8250 is smaller, cooler, has more features than - say - a 3310.
-
Hehe.. well , this my kind of topic . On tuesday(17:th) morning there is exciting news from nokia. Keep cool ;-)
About the numbering of nokia, your theory is not true.
The naming of nokia phone have to do with the segment the phone is targeting. 6XXX are business for example, 3XXX are youth.
Regarding the 3300 and/or N-gage.
I have the N-gage my self sine a few month back. It a really good phone, with all of you required features and then some. Comes with 64 meg memory , thats used for games/ mp3s or what ever.
Since you also are on this forum, I bet you like games ? Hold out until october and get an N-gage instead of the 3300. For sure !
-
Racer, nokia number series reflect the users.
2xxx series el cheapo phones, 3xxx series for teens who want cheap phones with nice features, 5xxx series for outdoor use, 6xxx series for buisness users, 7xxx series used to be a buisness series but it\'s now for the fashion people out there, but all the phones are basically the same as the 6xxx series phones. 8xxx series has always been for the fashion industry and the 9xxx series is for high end buisness users.
:)
-
Someone mention N-Gage?
-
Is the N-Gage seriously as crap as its made out to be?
-
Aaron had a hands on impression of it at E3 and said it was one of the worst products out there..
-
well, I have it (the N-gage), though it is a prototype. Its a really good PHONE with gaming capabilities. As a handheld its not that good maybe. Mp3 and video capabilites are really nice, the radio doesn\'t hurt eighter
-
So, basically, it\'s a crap portable game machine, but a good phone...

Kyocera 7135
That first Kyocera is CRAP. It had decent features and ability, but the phone was crap. I took in to service 4 times in 3 months.
That second Kyocera is fantastic and will be my next phone if I get my friends hook-up. Otherwise forget about spending $500 on just the phone.
-
How much is the N Gage expected to retail for?
whats the \'matrix phone\'? i seen it on tv, its black, and i think its made by NEC?? Anyone got any idea as to what im talking about?
-
That Matrix phone is the uglist god damn piece of crap I\'ve ever seen!
It seriously looks worse than some crappy childrens plastic phone. Yuck.
-
hehehe, yeah, but what is it? its pretty chunky, but looked to have some cool features.
-
The matrix phone is by samsung. but as sam said. PLASTIC as feck.
Nokia announced new models yesterday. 6600 is really nice. We have a protype here at the office, the screen is awsome ! The n-gage will reail around 350€ if i remeber correctly.
