An USA TODAY journalist has been able to watch the extended version of TTT. Here are some of the additions:
- 43 mins of new footage, among them:
- Faramir finds the boat with the body of his brother (flash with boromir)
- A scene with Faramir, Boromir and Denethor
- Boromir and Faramir flashback in a feast
- Eomer finds the dying Threoded and bring him to Theoden, but this, under the hand of Saruman, ignores him.
- Eowyn sings a sad song in the burial of Threoded
- Eowyn falls in love watching Aragorn how he calms down Brego whispering elfish words in the ear.
- Scene in which Barbol and other ents speak slowly and the hobbits do their best to avoid falling asleep.
- Eowyn, don\'t being a good cooker, brings Aragorn a bad cooked meat, and he eats it.
- New scenes between Aragorn and his beloved. It\'s revealed that Aragorn is 87 years old.
-
And, I bet, extended Battle of Helm\'s Deep... :)
-
I have the first one on DVD and still haven\'t found the time to watch it.
-
Are they going to do two DVD releases for TTT, like they did with the Fellowship? I hope not. I\'m not going to get suckered into buying the ordinary theatrical release again.
-
Suckered?
From day one, Peter Jackson has said each movie will have two releases. One for those who don\'t want to wait and don\'t want the extra\'s, and one that is extended in every form. This applies to every movie in the trilogy. Expect the extended edition three or so months after the first.
-
I really like that scene of Eowyn, Aragorn and the horse... I\'ll buy this time the extended version... but what i don\'t like is that the movie is divided into the two discs, isn\'t it?
-
They have no choice. With DTS / compression and all that good stuff, it has to be split up.
-
OK, I wasn\'t suckered because I actually knew they were going to release a longer version later, but I still think it\'s a bit questionable that they released them at different times.
If they want to release two versions, that\'s fine, but release them at the same time so everyone can make their choice. Otherwise it\'s a bit of a scam to persuade people to buy both versions.
-
I don\'t see how it\'s questionable, even with them at seperate times. You are the buyer. You are not forced to buy something. You make a choice to buy something. If anything, you should be able that Peter Jackson and crew have been as nice as they are, with letting us know their plans for the DVD\'s, ahead of time.
-
rent the first one, buy the second one. That\'s what I did and I am smart. :)
-
he is teh smart...
How about:
Get the first one for free from blockbuster, then give it to your boss for brownie points when the Extended version comes out...
then buy the extended one with the bookends at Target and be charged only $25 for it by a senile old lady
:D

How about I burn a copy and go to jail? :p

Yesterday I saw a little mexican guy selling pirate DVDs of The Hulk and The Matrix: Reloaded right outside my building in downtown LA. It was sort of surprising that no one was doing anything to stop him, here in the heart of the entertainment industry. :snore:
-
Well, those are Camcorded versions. Mine are exact DVD dupes. :p
BTW...how do you know he\'s Mexican? ;) That\'s like saying "I saw a French guy in Africa." He could be a Texan, for all we know. :p

and for the purposes of the good of the forum you where only joking about the pirated DVD.
and we at PSX2Central say that media Piracy is not a victimless crime.
;)
There that should keep the hollywood lawyers happy

Well....as long as I don\'t sell my copy it is well within my rights. That\'s the law in the US. Checkout http://www.DVDXcopy.com and they have their argument online.
Actually....I read it on the manual. It\'s probably online as well. :)

Here\'s a review and argument on both sides in USAToday

yeah your right you are aloud to back-up your own games or media for you own use.
its just that most people don\'t... strange that..esp when you pay £40 for a title only to have the CD or DVD scratched... oh the pain :(.
if only CD where as indestructable as they clamed they where when they where first introduced in the 80\'s.
it seams like the slightest scratch can well and truly bugger them up.
thats why i warmed to MD slightly due to the fact that they are self encased and remove this potential problem slightly.
