Cameroon midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe has died after collapsing during an international match in France, world football\'s governing body Fifa has confirmed.
The 28-year-old fell to the ground unchallenged in the 72nd minute of a Confederations Cup semi-final against Colombia in Lyon...........

Quite a shock, I didn\'t hear about it until I was in the pub. He was only 28 as well, and in excellent physicl condition.
//edit
I bet Keegan is counting his blessings.

anyone remeber hank gathers?
or even worse, jim fixx?
-
No.
And no.
-
I saw this story on the news last night, just goes to show when your number is up there isn\'t a damn thing you can do about it.
-
I just saw a clip of it on the local news this morning, he was in the centre circle running towards the action, no one was anywhere near him, he just dropped like a sack of lead bricks.
I wouldn\'t be surprised if he was out of it before he hit the ground.... I reckon it was his time, and that there was nothing that the medics could have done to save him.
-
i only read about it in todays paper, jaw almost hit the ground
-
I saw it in live... it was very dramatic... it\'s a pity.
-
Very strange indeed...
Another showcase to underline the fact that death can come anytime, no matter how healthy...
-
Maybe he wasn\'t as healthy as everyone thinks, could have had anything wrong with him. Maybe he took something before the game.... only time will tell.
-
I remember him very well and I\'m upset he has died because he was a player who had great ability.
He almost signed for Manchester United but we never got him cause he got injured and his transfer fell through.
Great Player.

Hank Gathers, yes. He\'s the basketball kid who died. Don\'t remember how.
Jim Fixx, I know the name, but he died of being an old fart didn\'t he? How is he related?
-
News have told that the player suffered from a NEURISMA, that is de bad formation of a main vein. It was broken during the match and affected the brain, so the effect was terrible.
-
hank gathers was a high basketball phenon who had a heart attack mid court at a championship game and died
jim fixx was the author of "the complete book of running", the runner\'s bible, so to speak. jim had a heart attack, unfortunately while jogging, at the age of 45
-
Fixx lived to 52.
I remember the Gathers thing, but that wasn\'t too long ago.
Was Len Bios (Can\'t remember how to spell his name) before or after Gathers?
-
damn, so it wasnt a heart attack like they thought
-
No it wasn\'t kopking. A vein broke in his head and the death was instantenous.
-
damn, still bad, the pic in th e paper today, it was disturbing
-
I saw the film of him collapsing on the news earlier today. He just seemed to stuble and fall flat on his face. The Sun has a picture of him on the front page showing him layed out with his eyes wide open. Pretty disturbing indeed.
-
You can always rely on the sun to stoop to new depths when it comes to tactless photographs. I remember them doing the same to Mika Hakkinen in 1995 when he had his near fatal crash in the Australian GP practice session. They showed a close up pic of him still in the car with a marshall holding his helmet upright, his visor up, and his eyes open, staring out into the distance.
There should be some law against showing pics like that.
