My next step is an advanced sound system. Anyone a pro on car audio?

Nobody gives them any recognition but they would be mean cars to mod up if there were any parts available. It really doesnt even need a body kit. Personally i go more for performance but hey, whatever floats your boat. Nice man. Congrats.

Im thinking about buying an AE86 also know as the Hachiroku or and 86 corolla for those of you who have no idea what im talking about. I wanna turn it into a drift monster and test it out. ( I think ive been watching too much Initial D!)

Post by: THX on June 28, 2003, 12:50:20 AM: I was about to get a G20, the test drive was super-smooth. I settled on a slightly older Maxima but was happy with the extra power and room. I\'m sure you\'ll enjoy the car for years to come, Nissan makes rock solid engines.

For car audio go Alpine for the head unit, Rockford Fosgate for the amps, and speakers have a wide range of options.. depending on your budget. Infinity Kappa\'s are nice if you are low on cash, Focal or A/D/S if you really want serious sound.

Also check here (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-0qBm2y4tWDf/autoinfo/autoinfo.asp?s=0&cc=01&vehicleid=0) to see what speakers fit your car. I\'d put nothing less than 6.5" components up front, if your ambitious enough you can make your own baffles to increase the size restraints.

Also, I have already picked out a head unit, I don\'t want to spend more than 800-900 on the sound for my car. Check out this head unit, retailed for $500, but I\'m looking to get it for $350.

And if you think the G20 is even remotely big I\'d hate for you to see a Cadillac DTS or Escalade ESV. ;)

Hurricane- those are both monsters.. 3 4-volt preouts for your future amps. :facelick: They don\'t seem to be much different at all. It looks like the 9815 has a better internal amp while the 7995 has better looks.. go figure.

I can think of a few good reasons to buy a cramped 2-door compact.

1. Power-to-weight ratio
2. Tossability
3. Fuel efficiency
4. They look cooler
5. Faster to wash

BTW not having to lug around friends is an advantage. :)

Personally i dont like SUV\'s and trucks all that much because they are unnecesarilly big and waste gas. Not only that but half the people that buy them just like to feel high and mighty and could care less about its off-road performance etc. Id buy a mini s over any SUV besides wagons like the wrx and outbacks etc.

Just be sure to change the oil every 5000 miles (don\'t believe the crap about oil breaking down in 3000 - studies have shown that it can go as long as 7000 without breaking down) and check the belts frequently for wear. Listen for squeels - that may indicate a loose belt.

And please try taking an autocross course to learn the limits orf YOUR skills as well as the car\'s limits. It\'s fun too. :)

The guy already lowered it almost have the price. My dad would get it for me, im just going to try to have him sell it to me for almost half price. He did say he really wants to get rid of it. soooo yeah.........

Post by: Mr. Kennedy on June 30, 2003, 05:25:24 PM: Well, I picked it up this morning, got it reggistered at the DMV, which only took ten hours. So now it is time to hook this baby up. So far today I was cleaning off some stickers the old owner left on, and cleaned out the crap between the liner and the exterior of the car. Tomorrow it goes to the car-wash, and top of the line wash.

I the next couple weeks I plan to...

Add an Alpine Head Unit, and an Infinity Kappa Stereo System.
Buy the spoiler, and then attach it.
Finally, do some slight modifications on the car, and I\'ll be golden.

I\'ll be all ready for when I go back to Boston in August, woo woo!

...Or a Ford Excursion.....if you can afford the gas.

What about one that gets handed down? My parents bought a new car, thus giving me the 88 Camry that I have now.

Either way, Dad refuses to sell that Camry.

My first car, my parents helped me get, as I was working for minium wage and needed a car bad... Once I get hired on full time, it was my baby, until my mother totaled it. :D

This new Celica, I have paid every penny for, down to the outta the ass expensive car payment.

Honestly, at this point, I feel this is one of the best investments I have ever made. The car has two modes, power mode for that extra kick, and comfort mode for a smother more comfortable ride. This car kicks ass, and next Saturday I\'m having the spoiler put on and Alpine Head Unit as well.

I expect this car to last me all through 2008, all the way through college. If I\'m satisfied, I\'ll probably stick with Nissan/Infiniti, or go Toyota/Lexus.
