Go ahead and download this 3.2 meg WMV file.
http://www.ancientspear.com/mac.wmv
Yeah, I run an iMac with OS X...But I can still laugh at all the complaints and notions people have about Apple. It should be noted that almost all these complaints are only valid for OS 9 and earlier.
It\'s pretty damn funny tho.
-
haha, macs suck
-
*hugs his iMac runnin\' OS X 10.2.4 and comforts it by saying, "Ignore that mean old critic.." ... . *
:D

Macs are meant for people who don\'t want to learn how to use a REAL operating system and computer.

That\'s funny. People say the same thing about windows\\Linux.
Anyways, if it wasn\'t for the vast array of pirated software out there available for PC and how easily obtainable it is, I\'m sure most people would own macs and game developers would support them that much more. Not to mention there\'s something very appealing about opening up Photoshop like PC\'s open up notepad...
-
Bah. I hate ignorant people saying "Macs are TEH SUX0rZ!111 - mainly because I\'ve never seen one, let alone tried one!111".
I\'ve only had PC\'s so far but that has been because:
a) I was big on (PC) gaming
b) I couldn\'t afford a second computer (read: Mac)
Once I get some dough I\'ll seriously consider getting a G5 (hell, even a G4 if the deal\'s sweet :D).
I also want an iBook... I just love how Apple can combine kickass hardware and kickass design.

You do realize that OS X is pretty much just Unix with a pretty GUI, don\'t you?
You compile your own stuff. You can work from Terminal...The list goes on and on. Dare I say, it is more for people who want to use an actual power operating system, as opposed to Windoze.
-
I would download it, but I am on an OS9 computer right now and I can\'t get a freaking WMV to play for my life!!!
-
macs suck
-
I couldn\'t have said it better. I\'ve been using these things for 4 years and I can\'t see a single reason why anyone would want one.
-
neither do i
every day when i walk into the mac lab at work to re-image several of them, i have to wonder to myself. who pays money for these?
-
I do, a number of the buttons right here on psx2c were even designed on a Mac.
:D

So that\'s why some of them don\'t work properly.:p
Only joking of course, they look great!:D

So using your argument: Microsoft Windows = the best OS in the world?

I have a powerbook G4. It blows nuts. Multitasks horribly.
Bill Gates may be Satan, but I\'ll run with the devil before I ever invest anything into Apple.

There is no way I can explain to you how much of a pain in the ass it is to be on a Mac in the business world. Constantly we are getting stuff in from other people and it doesn\'t work. So annoying.
I have to send it to my home address, see what it is at home, blah blah blah.
And don\'t even get me on how the email encodes attachments. Oh God. I\'m fine, but most everyone in our office if they send a word document out to someone it changes from a .DOC file to a .DAT file. So friggen annoying. Then you have to act like a total retard to the client and tell them to change the extension back to .DOC and all will be fine.
I see absolutely no reason for the being of the Mac. PC\'s have cought up tremendously on graphics and desktop publishing. 5-10 years ago I would say, yeah, get a Mac if you are in publishing, but I just don\'t see an edge any more on the Mac side.
-
People who send html e-mail should be kicked in the nuts by the hulk. Same thing for m$ word users.
Winbloze and it\'s 3 char extenstions = doo-doo.
-
Odd. I have used Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2K, Linux Redhat, Linux Mandrake, OS 9, OS X and other variants and ya\' know what? I would say OS X is my favorite and most functional OS. It has everything I need, run\'s perfectly smooth on my G3 .
To each their own, but the "macs suck" opinion is highly un-educated, in my two cents.
-
macs suck
i work with the pieces of shit every day
again, macs suck and there\'s a reason why they have 2% of the market
-
What OS do you use on the macs you work on, mm?
-
9 and 10
10 actually causes more headaches
do you have any idea how many times a day i have to go up to the mac lab and remove a stuck zip disk or cd because apple thinks it\'s frickin cool not to put eject buttons on the g4\'s?
two words, system security
death to mac
-
OK, Now that I am hoe I can freaking watch the video and I have to say I laughed my ass off. I have said the exact same things numerous times to our computer guy at work.
I\'m not ANTI-Mac or anything. THey just plain suck. There is actually no sense in having them. I can honestly say there is not a single thing I would rather do on my G4.
My Mac locks up on my 100Xs more often than my PC ever has. Actually My PC rarely locks up. Hell I had a virus and the thing still ran fast than the G4. I just had a billion popups happening all the time. Doh..
-
For the record, since OS X, Apple has more than your supposed 2% of the market. It is near the 5% range at this point.
As for you Video, I don\'t know what to tell you. I run OS X on a G3 with 256 megs of Ram and it doesn\'t crash. I put it through hell all the time and it keeps on goin\'.
OS 9 put me through hell when I went to Apple, instead of Windows and Linux. I finally made the change to OS X and haven\'t looked back. My next computer will most likely be an Apple, unless I decide to build one for PC games such as Half-Life 2 and Doom 3.
-
why should i pay twice the amount of money for a computer that is not even 50% versatile as the IBM-PC???
cause Photoshop loads up faster.
MACS suck, and honestly I don\'t see a bright future for Steve Jobs!
-
Would you whiners just shut up already.
NO ONE (no, not the guy) is forcing you to buy a Mac. But at least have a little respect for the guys who own Macs (and happily do so).
And mm, you never really replied to my previous statement, so allow me to be more direct this time - there\'s one reason why Apple doesn\'t have a bigger percentage of the market. And it\'s called Microsoft Windows. I\'m sure you remember Microsoft? You know, the company that brought shitty OS\' to the market for years and virtually created a monopoly. So when new and old users alike have to get a computer, they:
a) Want to buy what every other smuck has
b) Want to be able to play the newest Army Men game
c) Want to borrow and copy that k00l application the neighbor\'s got
BTW, do you know how many PC\'s I\'ve worked with that ran like crap? Tons. So you can take your "Macs suck and are unstable" and stick it where the sun doesn\'t shine.
-
Well said Sammy. Just like you, I\'ve worked on tons of PC\'s that ran like crap and that\'s life. But all because I\'ve worked on one crappy PC doesn\'t mean that there aren\'t a vast number of them that behave perfectly and the same goes for Macs.
What always gets me is that only on pro PC boards do I find people complaining about the stability and functionality of the mac, but when I go to a store that sells both PC\'s and Mac hardware, guess which one is ALWAYS running properly... The Mac with OSX. I\'m sorry, but if PC\'s are so wonderful and are so much better, then how come they can\'t run the length of a day standing the tests of the many consumers who walk in to toy with them? And don\'t give me any excuse about how "no one touches the mac so it couldn\'t possibly crash" because there\'s always people standing around it watching others mess with the dual cinema displays and manipulate several different apps at the same time flawlessly.
I just don\'t see where this hatred stems from. Is it because they\'re too expensive? Is it because they try to innovate? Is it because they don\'t get the latest games? Is it because you can\'t pirate software onto the system easily thus falling back to the other excuse of money? I\'ve never seen the stability issues anyone here speaks of so maybe I\'m just missing something.
Oh, and Vid, the file was coded in WMV which is a Windows media format designed to run on x76 hardware which is why it runs slowly on Mac computers despite being compatible. The same goes for just about any Quicktime encoded video (Far superior quality and compression) when it\'s played on a PC because on a PC, quicktime eats up tons of resources for its bigger files while Mac\'s play them like PC users open notepad. Don\'t know if you knew that or not.
-
omg, 5% now!!!!
i bet the stockholders are loving it
again, macs suck and are unstable, and offer little security
only a pure mac user would argue otherwise
oh, and i want an eject button
oh, and where\'s the file security
and damnit, it\'s 2003, make a 2nd button on the mouse
:rpissed:
-
I would love to go to OSX and I have heard much better things about it.
BUT, unlike XP, they didn\'t make OSX backwards compatible worth shit.
So I have thousands of dollars worth of software that we need to be swapped out. And that my friend is a pile of crap.
I agree with the mouse. Every new computer we add we have to go to the computer store and buy a new mouse because their little "Stylish" mice blow nuts. Why should I have to hold down the control key every time I want to click a mouse button.
And another thing. Drives me crazy that I can\'s open the menu bars with alt-commands like in windwos.
If I want to crop a picture I hit Alt-I, P. Done picture cropped. On the Mac for some reason they don\'t allow you to use letters to access the different menu items. You have to scroll the mouse to it and drop the menu down.

Wrong again. I\'m not a pure mac user. :)
-
then you agree that macs suck
look up idiosyncrasies in the dictionary, you\'ll find a picture of a mac next to it
no sane person would choose a mac if a PC was sitting next to it
macs are only good if there is not other option, and even then, i would drive down to the public library if i had to
oh, and don\'t get me wrong. linux on PC > anything else
-

i\'d definately pick a mac (if that makes me insane so be it),
unless offcourse the pc specs were P43.2ghz, 1gb ddr 3200 corsair ram mounted on ans ASUS p4c800 deluxe mobo, 200 gig hdd, MSI nbox-5900U, 22" sony monitor, & an M-audio revolution 7.1, all rapped up in a Lian Li PC 75 case :D.
-
a basic G4 costs more than that setup, tyrant
-
Vid there is a reason OS X isnt truly backward compatiable. It\'s a complete new OS, nothing was taken from OS 9 to make the core of it. Thus it can\'t be truly backward compatiable.
-
wrong
basic G4: $1,299.00
Basic G5: $1,999.00
Top G5 : $2,999.00
Of course you can make them a whole lot more expensive, maxing out the 8 gigs of ram, getting a 23" cinema display etc...
And like LiC said, OS X is completly new while XP is win2k with a million more lines added to the code. And you do have classic still, all the apps that need OS 9 will load up in classio.

http://railheaddesign.com/pages/various/PantherPreview/html/PantherPreview00.html
Here\'s a visual tour of Panther (newest OS X release). Everything\'s been toned down to fit with Apple\'s more metallic look (PowerBooks and PowerMacs)
And I friggin LOVE the new Tabs (http://railheaddesign.com/pages/various/PantherPreview/html/PantherPreview08.html)
-
and why do you think mac went with unix core OS?
-
Well, they used technoligy developed by NeXT the company Steve started when he left Apple. Then Apple bought Next and decided to use their underlying OS for their next OS.

I know why my stuff won\'t work, but try and tell that to an office of 12 people all using computers all needing thousands of dollars to upgrade.
That my friends blows.
So we fester in OS9 forever. Hell I have a copy of 10.2 in my desk, but it is as useless as Freestylah\'s Penis unless I go and spend hundreds of dollars getting new software.
-
Ive never even used a mac and i found that very funny!!! =]
