Title: PC help...games crashing and reutning to wondows as if the game was never run.
Post by: ooseven on June 30, 2003, 01:47:06 AM
ok this happens to me every now and then, what happens is i play a gam (say Black & white or systme shock 2) and everything is fine.

then totaly out of the blue the screen jumps straight back to windows with out any warning.

No error

No Warning this programme has ... message.

i have scanned for viruses and nothing.

Although i can\'t rmember what version of Direct X i have, all hardware seams to be ok.

anyway Idea\'s on whats going wrong ?

oh and another thing is i have never had a crash like this with morrowind so its just some games.

update everything, from sound card to mobo to graphics drivers, this should help.

also try lowering the resolution, or turning off FSAA and ANISO (if u got a gf4 card), i had a same problem playing the pro race driver demo @ 1280x1024 with 8x aniso. after turning ANISO off everything was great.

Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.Could be a videocard driver problem. Make sure its up to date. I\'ve also had problems where i had to use old drivers. Just experiment.

Also a list of specs would be helpfull.

Yeah XP is more stable. But if you don\'t keep your drivers up to date that is most likely the problem.
