And she deserves a hell of a lot more than 79,970.  I don\'t care what country you are in.

A woman lay awake during surgery for 45 minutes, unable to move or call for help, after staff forgot to hook up the machine pumping out anaesthetic, the Austrian daily Kurier reported Monday.

The woman was temporarily paralyzed because she had been given a muscle relaxant, and her ordeal ended only after a replacement doctor who came into the operating room saw tears in her eyes and noticed the machine was not connected properly.

The woman, who was undergoing abdominal surgery, is suing for 70,000 euro ($79,970) in damages, the hospital in the Austrian province of Carinthia confirmed.

It\'s not the first time this has happened
there are some people that are immune to that stuff, they suffer like hell, without having the ablitiy to do something about it

I have heard stories like this before, it\'s enough to put people off having surgery.

In the states she could get well over a Million with no court battle, just an out of court settlement.

Hey, it was a learning experience. Can you put a pricetag on learning where your pain threshold is?  Also, some people have said that pain will take you higher than any drug.  I think she got something out of this as well.  :)

DUDE! that would suck ass.  waking up to find yourself spread open feeling nothing but pure pain.. Holly shit.  Nasty thaughts......Nightmares.....AHHHHHH!

Thats why I\'d only go into surgery unless I have to. I\'m afraid of something like that. But why can\'t you scream?

That had some special on tv about this earlier.  The person it happend to said it felt like a blow torch was taking to all of her organs.  

Scared the hell outta me when I got my wisdom teeth out last year.  But hey, that worked out fine so i\'m good.

I just recently had my tonsils removed, it would have sucked ass waking up then, I dunno what I would have done jesus, mouth all cocked wide the hell open, makes me shudder
