Enjoy
PS: its 28 meg, so just click the link if you dont want to wait for a 5 minute download (sorry 56k\'ers)

That was very funny. The visual effects were really good for such a low budget production.
However, I recommend acting classes for everyone involved. :p
-
haha. thanks man. Yeah. I agree. This was simply a college project. As for a budget...
cost for movie = 1 egg ;)
-
Ill pop it back online tomorrow. Gotta sleep now
-
I\'ll give you tips to make your next movie better.
First off, fire your videographer. Or get them a tripod. No, fire him/her AND get a tripod.
get a reflector or even a piece of white posterboard if you are going to shoot outside. The one shot of the dudes looking at the egg needed light majorly on their faces.
Everything else was fine.
Acting was terrible, but it\'s a college movie.
God, when I was in college my projects were on film and I had to splice the scenes together. I wish to God I could go to school with After Effects in hand.
Nice job though. Nice use of AE.
You have any plug ins? I have a truck load of them.
-
Vid, do you have that \'ray thingy plugin\' (sorry, forgot what it\'s called)? You can do some really cool stuff with it.
-
well... i was the videographer..and did part of the movie.. I was chad. Juslight was magniforific man. I have a tripod now though. I only had a tripod for a week. Then I had to return it to the schol so someone else could use it. The next project will be much better... Probably in a month it will be done.
BTW... I dont have any plug-ins... juslight and I are trying to get our hands on saphire.... You dont happen to have that one do you? :)
-
I\'ll have to check. I have quite a few.
I will try and post some of my stuff one day. I need to try and find some college stuff, but I don\'t think any of it is on VHS. I think it is all on 3/4.. Much of my stuff was film, but I did shoot quite a few news stories and did a really boring flying project my senior year.
Another tip on the camera, take it out of auto iris. That is the biggest no no in the professional world. Nothing more distracting than having the level shift mid shot.
Another tip. Never use the zoom. That\'s why God gave you feet. Ever notice your eyes don\'t zoom?
I\'m only being critical to help. This piece was far better than any of the crap I did in college.
One more thing, Fire your videographer. :)
-
I would love to get some plug-ins from you vid. Do you have any GOOD rotoscoping programs or plug-ins? I am kind of new to After Effects and I was surprised that it didn\'t have rotoscoping included.
ps - please don\'t make MPTheory fire himself!!!!
-
haha, I know I need some practice with that. The professor hasnt given us any lessons in technique with a camera. I intend on getting better though.
Thanks for the tip on the zoom thing.
I\'ll have to play around with the auto Iris thing. I just got my camera less than a month ago, and obviously no professional training using one whatsoever haha, so any criticism you give me is good. The more hints you give me, the better.
-
BTW... Juslight did all the after effects stuff for me. I just watched, trying to learn to use it. I did all the cuts and added sound Im really starting to love video. More then I expected. I can\'t wait to start my next project. I might have to ask you for a few pointers vid.
-
Hey MP, Is it up still?
-
not right now. Im hosting it from home. I keep my firewall up, so everytime someone tries to download, I have to permit them. I like to be able to see who is accessing my computer. :)
-
Oh yeah, always, always, always dissolve the sound between cuts. Even if it\'s only 5 frames. You can definitely tell when you have an ambient mic. You know the scene where dude is interviewing the people on the couch? Well dude\'s audio quality was much more "airy" than the other mics. Dissolving audio makes this far less obvious.
In the news business we use to fake this by trailing audio. Shot one would be on channel one. At the end of the shot trail the audio off. Next shot put on track 2. Next shot goes on track one. etc. etc. This gives that dissolving audio feel.
Another thing to watch out for, the opening shot. I think I remember dude in a field with a tree sticking out of his head in the background. Always be aware of the background. The worst is having like a dead tree or something behind someone\'s head and it looks like antlers. Or a telephone pole sticking out of his shoulder.
Another tip. Don\'t screw with God. God\'s light will overpower anything you can throw at it. If at all possible when shooting outside try and keep your horizon from making your subject under exposed. Do this by either getting a good amount of trees or something to cover the sky, or just make sure you are a little bit higher than your subject.
OK, that\'s enough for now. I\'ll try tonight to dub a couple pieces off for you to see. I haven\'t shot in forever. I\'ve shot some stuff for Hi Rev Tuners, but it\'s like "anti" my style of shooting.

Do you have any advice on how to look less like a loser while wearing silver pants and "princess" rubber gloves?......
......I thought not.
-
Yeah, get bigger tits.
-
Good point. ;)
soooo.................how about those plug-ins?
-
I\'m not home. I\'m at work. Hence all of the new topics on the board.
I\'ll have a look when I get home.
I need to drive over there some day and meet up with you guys. You are only about an hour away.
-
Only an hour away? I thought you lived farther away than that.
I am also at work, so the plug-ins wouldn\'t do me much good here anyway.
-
I thought you lived in Orlando. Or are you up in the pan handle?
-
I live 35 minutes northwest of Orlando in Lake County. What area do you live in?
-
North of Tampa about 20 minutes from downtown.
-
I thought you lived in Tampa for some reason.. That\'s like 2 hours away. but yeah. PS2 posters unite!
BTW: I appreciate all the advice. I\'ll have to remember to think about all that stuff the next time I\'m behind the camera...Ir in this case, Infront and behind the camera.
One more question I wanted to ask; Say I were filming someone walking towards the camera. What would be the best way to film them walking while maintaing the same distance between them and the camera, without jumping all over the friggin place. I now have a tripod, but it surely doesnt have wheels.
-
Oh, well maybe you and Lona and the Logster could take a little vacation and stay at Mission Inn for a couple of days. You could take him to Disney and I could get you a room for $50 a night since you ARE my cousin.... wink wink.
Do you play golf?
-
Does a Bear Shit in the woods ole cousin of mine?
-

DUDE HOWEY IN THE HILLS!!!!
I must show you a piece I did many years ago on the police department. I\'ll try and encode it tonight if I can find it. You will die laughing. Well I wouldn\'t say die laughing, but it is cute nevertheless. It got me an emmy so that\'s what really counts. :)
My wife grew up in Clermont and we\'ve been talking about going over there so we can show Logan everything over there. I may have to hit you up on it. Just don\'t quit any time soon. :)
-
You mean that it sucks, or that it is about 2,000 pages too big?...... We should be getting the new site up soon, but thats what the web designers have been saying for 3 months now.

Better act quickly then, I\'m in the market for a new job.... I\'m not treated very well here in "The Hills"
I\'m taking one of my vacation weeks on the 16th of this month. I plan on job-hunting that week. If I find a company I like, I may not be here long.
-
NO!!!! You can\'t leave!!! Howey needs you!!!
I have the tape here and I will upload the piece tonight. I have another one I will put up as well that may show you some things with nat sound blending and the use of closeups. Very sad piece about a little boy, but it has good visuals.
-
yeah... there are quite a few pages there. not to mention the fact that its old.... I see you have popped some newer pics in there though... or were those already there?
-
I wonder how different the booming metropolis of Howey was, back when you did your piece.
-
753 people. I am encoding it now.
-
haha... booming metropolis... And Dean\'s dad is Mayor.
-
Honey, I\'m home!!!!
-
so yeah. Im hosting it for a bit... if anyone wants to check it out.
