So, what do you all think about Bush\'s stance with Liberia?
-
You need a soap box to get on or do you have your own?
-
Madness ??? ? ? ? ?? ??
or is he working form Donald Rumsfeld famous book.
"how to Alienate people and make enemies”
-
Jobless rate just went up again. Economy in the shitter. No WMD in Iraq.
=
Time for another distraction.
This way we can have parades for the new wounded and question everyone\'s patriotism when Americans question the President.
-
fill me in please, on how the president controla the enonomy
how come everytime i see someone cry about the jobless rate, macdonalds is always hiring
-
Funny you mention MickeyD\'s..they laid off 5000 employees back in december/january.
Also, since you pride yourself on being a somewhat educated individual...dont put words in my mmouth as I did not say anything about how the pres. controls the economy..so try it elsewhere.
-
you said GWB is responsible, no?
every macdonalds i walk into has a "now hiring" sign
unemployment, my ass
people are lazy and like to sit at home and collect checks

Please point out where I said he was responsible or EVEN implied it.

Funny, I dont see myself saying he was responsible.
Hell, that doesnt even implicate that I feel that way..and I dont.
Stop reaidng into things.
The original thread asked about MO on Bush and Liberia...I gave it and nothing more.
-
i hit a nerve, eh?
-
not yet..Just drinkin and and dont wanna **** around today.
-
i can\'t help it if your anti-bush for no reason other that it\'s the cool thing to be
-
Yup, I dislike him, but thats no reason for you to read into things.
Anywho..still drinkin and smokin..so I wont fight now. :D
-
Hey im not anti bush, im against most the govermant too so don\'t worry, including a portion of the democrats.
-
I don\'t see where Luckee said Bush was directly responsible for the jobless rate.
I did see him say that Libera was another distraction due to Bush\'s constant failures, just as the search for those WMD was Bush\'s way of distracting people from his failure to find Bin Laden.

Just for the record, our local McDonalds is not hiring. Things are different in different areas.
And I can think of a few ways that the president and other elected officials of his own party impact the economy. I mean, weren\'t the tax cuts given to us by the republican controlled government supposed to help? I know this isn\'t the best example for this exact situation, since these things take time. Just making a point in saying that there is a connection between the president and the economy.
-
Our local Mcdonald\'s isnt hiring either, but good luck telling MM that.
P.S - Shockwaves, you are just agree\'ing with Luckee and I because "its the cool thing".
:D
-
You do realize that a tax cut takes quite a long time to filter into the system. I mean it\'s not like I already went and spent my 400 dollar check I am getting.
-
so you guys went in and applied at macdonalds eh?
not surpised
-
Working at McDonalds is not a shameful thing. I do not work there nor ever have. Atleast they are working though, and not leaching off the system like so many others.
-
exactly my point
there is ALWAYS a job to be found
example:
a good friend of mine\'s father was a cobol programmer for a large financial corporation here in pittburgh. after the 2000 switchover, he was laid off, because they went all windows software and had no need for a cobol mainframe department. what did this guy do? he\'s spent the last 3 years on unemployment looking for a cobolprogramming job. everytime i see him, i wanna say "look here you prick, instead of making your wife go out and work cause yer lazy ass can\'t is inexcusable. go get a fukn job"

Not in Dallas....
-
No. I\'ve never applied to Mcdonalds - but I have never seen that "Now Hiring" sign either at our local Mcdonalds.
Things are a lot different depending on the area. Were I live, jobs are rather scarce at this point. Infact, a couple places just shut the doors down.
-
you cannot tell me there isn\'t a job available in your city
thats ludacris
-
There might be. There\'s jobs for lawyers, judges, doctors....but not everybody is able to get those jobs. If you\'re talking about jobs at mcdonalds, burger king, albertsons, wal-mart, target, mervyns, taco bell, amc, Ross, Gamestop, Bookstop, chik-fil-a, kroger, fiesta, minyards, walgreens.....and so on then NO at least not here in mesquite.
-
get out of the sticks
bright lights, big city
-
Well with no jobs in your area, these guys must have a really easy website to take care of.

In the town I live in, there are virtually no jobs available at that sorta low level. The graduating high school class this year was like significantly larger than any other one, and thus the work force is larger than it usually is. In my specific town, you really have to look for different kinds of jobs, or go into Albany to find something.
-
Welp, another reason to go to college. I don\'t see how people can be successful in life without college anymore. Surely there are some exceptions, but it\'s prety tough.
-
There is the difference , Vid. You are obviously adjusted to "city life" where almost any job requires a college eduction. In more rural area\'s, it isn\'t near as a big deal. Infact, I know plenty of people with college educations and they end up doin\' manual / menial labor, for various reasons ...The main reason is they don\'t want to move out of their home town or what not.
Me, personally, I don\'t have a college eduction. I wouldn\'t mind goin\' back to school and I have given it thought, but at this point, I have a job that isn\'t to bad, pays good and allows me a lot of free time.
-
Also, let\'s say some of us aren\'t lucky enough to receive scholarships or are able to pay for college in the first place, because all the scholarships are taken by smart white girls......j/k
How are they supposed to pay for it? A job at mcdonalds, burger king, etc...Lot\'s of students wind up doing that. Not b/c they\'re too lazy to go to college, but because it\'s the only way they can afford advancing on their education. Right now I need a job to feed my freaking dog! We just moved to a new house so we\'re still getting adjusted. There\'s hardly any money left and im pretty tired of sitting around doing nothing. That way I can bring my own income and don\'t have to stress my parents that much, except when borrowing the car.....
-
Anyone can go to college if they have enough desire to do so. There are tons of grants and scholarships available to people that wish to look for them. Loans are always an option also.
Kids today are looking for handouts straight out of highschool. Everyone wants to be the guy on the info-mercials that got rich by "tricks of the trade" But they dont want to work to achieve their dreams. The simple fact of it all is you can do anything you set your mind to do. You really can....
The first step is getting off your lazy ass and doing something about it. Where I live I used to go to day labor when I was a senior in highschool, the bums and whinos have no problems doing this to support there drug habits are there alcholism. Me and my friends would wonder to ourselves why do these men and women get up everyday just to come make 35-40 bucks a day? And do it almost everyday of the week?
They did it because it was the only way to get that cold 40 at the end of the day. Sure the average employer wouldn\'t hire them, but they found an alternative to supprt their addictions.
All I\'m saying, is if you want a job bad enough you can find one. Black, white, red, or purple. It makes no difference about race in these places. They just want people that will provide labor and get the job done.
The problem is everyone wants a job that they enjoy doing. You really think the garbage men that pick up your garbage on the corner get up every morning and say to themselves...
"I can\'t wait to get to the corner of so-and-so street so I can hop out and throw the garbage in the back of the truck! Man what a RUSH!"
I really doubt it, but they do what they have to do in order to support their families. Some people enjoy their jobs, some people hate their jobs, but the people that aren\'t lazy do things they don\'t want to do all of the time.
-
No..ppl become garbage men b/c they make $21 an hour to do shit. Hell, the trucks dont even put off odors like they used to back in the day. Half of these guys never have to get out of the truck now. I wish I could get into sanitation.

As has been stated before... FEDERAL STUDENT LOANS. I put myself through college and am still paying back my loan debt. You need to worry about graduating high school before worrying about getting into a college.
-
Well, in my case im worried about both. I got 5 Ap credits, and my counselour thinks I should start considering a college by my Junior year. Im pretty sure(hoping) that I can get some kind of grant.
