Hey im asking this question from my friends computer right now cause my computer has a problem...
When i turn it on yes, the fan starts and everything... but thats it.. it doesnt make those beeping sounds or go to the boot up screen or anything. The monitor stays black and thats it.
whats my problem?

I had the same thing. I then left it turned off for a couple hours and it worked fine. It has happened twice since then and the same cure fixed it. I think it is just overheating.
Oh yeah, wrong forum buttwipe. :)

sounds like the power supply.. got one you got swap out and test if its bad?
-
Yea boot probs usually occur from aging power supplies. Grab a quality Fortron/Sparkle on Newegg for your friend. If just to test get an Antec from CompUSA or Best Buy to see if it works fine, then return if it doesn\'t.
-
Thats happened to me 2, i tunrend it off and left it for like 5 minutes came back turned it on and it was fine
-
power supply will keep it from booting? Mine hung up before I could even get to bios. I shut it off for a bit and it worked fine.
I\'d love for it to be the power supply. I was thinking it may be the motherboard.
I don\'t want a new computer for at least another year or 2. I am at 1.4 ghz and I really want to wait until they hit 5 so I need to squeak out another year or so.

well..... that was a rough few days... i didnt realize how addicted to the internet i was... i was going crazy with out my computer!
ya... so anyway... it was a power surge.... took out the mother board and my hard drive.

Yea Vid worth a shot. My p3 800 would boot every so often until I swapped out PSU\'s, then it was super stable and would boot all the time.
Kim- dang that sucks! Did you have a surge protector connected? I know they all work up until a certain point, which is why it\'s best to get a high quality UPS.
